About this listen

Taming The Cougar
by Lynn Carlyle

Mike Barton was feeling a bit unsettled.

A couple of years earlier, his marriage of just a few years had broken up.

Now the Cincinnati-based accounting consulting firm he had been working for had dissolved over a conflict. Now he had to strike out on his own as an independent consultant, and was relieved an old college friend teamed him up with a company in transition located in downtown Dayton who was in need of his special services.

Mike traveled to Dayton to meet the team operating a restaurant holding company called Newcastle Enterprises. And that was when he was introduced to the administrative assistant with whom he would be working for several days.

But Amy Tipton was an interesting woman. At 52, she was 14 years older than Mike, but he could not help but feel attracted to her. She was openly flirtatious and dressed in a way more appropriate to attending a party than working in a business office.

But she was bright, knowledgeable and knew the workings of the company. And without regard to logic, they found themselves attracted to each other by the time Mike finished up his week of work there. Amy wanted him to come to dinner at her South suburban condo, and Mike told her that when company business was finished, he would be happy to accept the invitation.

But he was also included into a running joke among the top staff there, that the owner had once told the outgoing and flirty Amy that she needed a good paddling. And her reaction had revealed that she may not find that very objectionable.
