Welcome to the third volume of Tales from the Weird by one of England's top cult writers on the supernatural - Tom Slemen. In this disturbing but thought-provoking book of real-life paranormal nightmares which are set in places ranging from Liverpool to Los Angeles, Alaska to Australia, New York to New Brighton, you will explore some probing questions such as:
- What demonic child murderer took the bones out of his victims and tied their limbs in knots?
- Was the Biblical Tree of Knowledge once found in New York's Central Park?
- What lies behind the eerie reports of ghostly cities seen across the world from Alaska to the Australian Outback?
- What eerie force whisked a Welsh antiques dealer off the face of the earth in a street crowded with tourists?
- Who is the sinister Green Man, and why does he visit bedrooms with deadly gifts on Halloween?
- Who - or what - was the grotesque mimic which tried to rape a foreign exchange student in France?
- What was the black mass of nothingness which stalked a woman during the New York Blackout?
- What happened to the lady who received the chilling warning: Dead at 43...?
- What happened to the boy who found that his entire family had been replaced by creepy robot-like impersonators which then chased him across a city in England?
- What happened to the method actor who wanted to see the fabled Fourth Wall?
- What was behind the demonic computer game which overlapped into reality and ended with the stabbing of a Brooklyn teenager?
- What was the fate of the depraved English millionaire who decided to conjure up the Devil during a high class orgy?
- What's the dark story behind the heart-stopping haunting known as the Wee Willie Winkie stalker? And why was an innocent teenage girl targeted by the knife-wielding apparition?

This book - which put Liverpool on the paranormal map - is about ghosts - whatever they are. Every culture has believed in ghosts at one time or another: Buddha trained himself to overcome fear by sitting in a haunted cemetery. Spooky tales are not just a contemporary phenomenon - there are several ghosts mentioned in the Old Testament. In the course of a person's lifetime, the chances of encountering a ghost are surprisingly high.

Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

At the heart of these stories, as with all the best of Lovecraft’s work, is the belief that the Earth was once inhabited by powerful and evil gods, just waiting for the chance to recolonise their planet. Cthulhu is one such god, lurking deep beneath the sea until called into being by cult followers who – like all humans – know not what they do.

In Jasper Fforde's Great Britain, circa 1985, time travel is routine, cloning is a reality (dodos are the resurrected pet of choice), and literature is taken very, very seriously. All this is business as usual for Thursday Next, renowned Special Operative in literary detection.

This one is very aptly named, weird, and more. Strange happenings and unexplainable coincidences are eerie and made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up at times. Great scare factor. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Its weeeeeeeiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrddddddddddd!!!
In the enchanting world of audiobooks, where tales of horror and the supernatural come to life through the mellifluous voice of a talented narrator, few experiences are as captivating and spine-tingling as "Tales of the Weird 3" by Tom Slemen, narrated by the unparalleled Nigel Peever. This mesmerizing audiobook ventures into the depths of the paranormal, offering a collection of real-life accounts that span from Liverpool to Los Angeles, Alaska to Australia, New York to New Brighton, and more. With an unrelenting curiosity, we delve into eerie questions and astonishing stories that challenge the boundaries of the known and the unknown.
At the helm of this audio adventure is the formidable Nigel Peever, a master of the art of narration. Peever's storytelling prowess is a revelation, making each tale feel vivid and authentic. He breathes life into Slemen's words, infusing them with an uncanny realism that is both bewitching and terrifying. His narration isn't just a recitation of stories; it's an art form in itself. Nigel Peever doesn't just make the stories come alive; he pulls you into their dark and mysterious embrace, inviting you to walk the treacherous path alongside the protagonists.
What sets "Tales of the Weird 3" apart is its ability to draw you into the heart of the uncanny. Nigel Peever's narration, combined with immersive background sounds, transports you to the very locales where these chilling events unfolded. This isn't merely a listen; it's a multisensory experience that envelops you in an eerie atmosphere, making the stories all the more haunting.
The stories within this audiobook are exquisitely written by Tom Slemen. His tales are nothing short of captivating, delivering a level of description and detail that can only be described as masterful. The supernatural nightmares he presents in this volume will send shivers down your spine and induce nightmares. Each narrative is a carefully crafted work of art, designed to elicit a visceral reaction from the listener.
For those who revel in the macabre, "Tales of the Weird 3" is an unmissable treasure trove of horror. Tom Slemen's ability to unearth the darkest corners of the paranormal and the supernatural is unparalleled. The tales presented in this audiobook explore the boundaries of reality and the inexplicable. As you immerse yourself in these tales, you'll find yourself questioning the very nature of the world around you.
One of the standout aspects of this audiobook is the sheer craziness of the tales it presents. The range of stories is staggering, from the disturbing account of a child murderer who defiled his victims in unimaginable ways to the inexplicable appearance of ghostly cities across the globe. The narrative that leaves an indelible mark, my personal favorite, is the surreal story of the actor determined to witness the fabled "Fourth Wall." It's a tale of obsession and madness that will grip your imagination and refuse to let go.
Nigel Peever's narration only heightens the sense of the bizarre in these tales. His voice carries a haunting quality that accentuates the eerie atmosphere of each narrative. He has the ability to convey the depths of terror and curiosity in these stories, making you feel as though you are right there, facing the unexplainable alongside the characters.
If you've had the pleasure of exploring Tom Slemen's "Haunted Liverpool" series, you already know what awaits in "Tales of the Weird 3." This audiobook is a continuation of his fascinating exploration into the unknown, showcasing timeslips, bizarre creatures, haunted paintings, and more. Slemen's knack for unearthing the uncharted and mysterious elements of the world is unparalleled. His books are nothing short of addictive, compelling you to delve deeper into the enigmatic and the unexplained.
In my experience, I had the privilege of immersing myself in this audiobook using immersion reading while listening to Nigel Peever's masterful narration. This combination of visual and auditory storytelling added an extra layer of depth to the experience. Peever's captivating voice allowed me to visualize the eerie scenarios painted by Slemen, creating a sense of immediacy that was both thrilling and terrifying.
As a reviewer, I must emphasize that "Tales of the Weird 3" is an audiobook experience like no other. It offers a journey into the bizarre, the unexplained, and the horrifying. Nigel Peever's narration is not just stellar; it's transcendent, ensuring that you'll find yourself ensnared in the mysteries of each tale. These stories are the stuff of nightmares, carefully woven together to test the boundaries of reality and the supernatural.
If you have a penchant for horror, an insatiable curiosity for the unknown, and a desire for a good scare that transcends mere entertainment, I wholeheartedly recommend "Tales of the Weird 3" by Tom Slemen, narrated by Nigel Peever. However, I must issue a word of caution: don't listen to it in complete darkness with headphones unless you're prepared to confront your deepest fears. As for me, I received this audiobook as a gift, and I am voluntarily leaving this review because the experience was utterly enthralling. "Tales of the Weird 3" is a haunting masterpiece that will linger in your mind long after the final chapter has come to an end.
