About this listen

Take a 30 mile journey on Colorado mountain highway US 24 over a 100 year period. We start with Leadville during the 1870s Silver Boom with its miners, outlaws, prostitutes, ranchers and railway men of the Old West. Follow on the advent of the railroad, electricity, telephone, and two world wars. We journey through the towns of Red Cliff, Gilman, Minturn and end up in Vail Ski Resort during the 1970s. The old mining industry is fully explored, as is Camp Hale, training ground for the 10th Mountain division during WWII. We end up with early Colorado ski industry which culminates in the development of modern day Vail. What will the next 100 years bring?
