About this listen

We begin a new vision in given John the Revelator in Revelation Chapter 21. This vision is the fourth and final Great Vision shown John in the Revelation of Jesus Christ. The fourth great vision concerns itself with the church who is the bride, the Lambs wife. Four Great Visions divide The Revelation of Jesus Christ. I have discussed this point in each volume. I believe it is this important. Let's look again at the four great visions. Seeing the Revelation separated into four sections aids us in understanding the book. John separated each great vision by his going on a journey in the Spirit. Only four times we find the term "in the Spirit" used in the entire book. Each use designates a division opening a new section and a part of the Revelation. Here are the four divisions. First Great Vision: Revelation 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet Second Great Vision: Revelation 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. Third Great Vision: Revelation 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. Fourth Great Vision: Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God These four uses are the only occurrences John used the phrase "in the spirit." With each unique journey in the spirit, the Lord Jesus gave John a diverse perspective and perception of Himself, Jesus Christ. Here are the four Great Visions. 1. Son of Man Revelation 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 2. Lamb as it had been slain Revelation 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. 3. KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS Revelation 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. 4. The Husband of the bride, the Lamb's wife Revelation 21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. Within each Great Vision are several minor visions all dealing with Jesus Christ and His Revelation. An appointed angel led John in the spirit through each Great Vision. These four Great Visions are the Revelation of Jesus Christ. This volume and section, Revelation chapters 21 and 22, records the fourth and last Great Vision given John in the Book of Revelation. John saw a new heaven and a new earth. Then he watched the holy city, new Jerusalem, come down out of heaven. The city came out of heaven. Was it the heaven people go to who put their faith in Jesus Christ? How could it be if it came out of heaven? A key point I hope to make in this volume is the holy city, new Jerusalem is the Lamb's wife (Rev 21:9-10) who is the Church. John didn't see heaven. John saw the husband of the Bride, the Lamb's wife in this part of Jesus Christ's Revelation. After describing the holy city, new Jerusalem in allusion detail, John closed The Book of Revelation with the Lord's promise of His soon coming. Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Revelation 22:21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. What did Jesus mean when He said, "Surely I come quickly"? Are two-thousand years quickly? Could He have meant something else? I believe He did.
