About this listen
Sports radio legend Stugotz rewrites the record books, taking rings away from undeserving champions and giving them to the rightful winners.
“I’ve been accused of rooting against every team in America, but I am rooting FOR Stugotz’s Personal Record Book.”—Joe Buck
Without Tom Brady, Bill Belichick is a worse head coach than Herm Edwards. Kevin Durant has no rings. Rafael Nadal is not on the Mount Rushmore of men’s tennis.
For years, popular sports radio personality Stugotz has been telling fans that he keeps a “personal record book,” a kind of alternate sports universe in which Babe Ruth is not a great Yankee, Sean McVay has no rings, and Joe Namath is not in the Hall of Fame, to name just a few of his sacred proclamations.
As Stugotz hilariously renders his controversial judgments with the steely conviction of a psychopath, what might seem like broadsides meant to rattle the cages of avid sports fans are transformed into shockingly wise, well-considered arguments that, taken together, form a radical revision of sports history. Prepare to be wildly entertained as he shows where flash and hype have replaced integrity and sportsmanship. He takes rings away and gives new ones out, reframes some of history’s most iconic games, and declares entire sports dead (sorry, horse racing). He even invites some of the biggest names in sports media, such as Scott Van Pelt and Mina Kimes, to offer their rebuttals. By taking on the legends of basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, and tennis, Stugotz leaves no stone unturned—and no sport unscathed.

Story
Long before the Moneyball Era, the Earl of Baltimore reigned over baseball. History’s feistiest and most colorful manager, Earl Weaver transformed the sport by collecting and analyzing data in visionary ways, ultimately winning more games than anybody else during his time running the Orioles from 1968 to 1982. When Weaver was hired by the Orioles, managers were still seen as coaches and inspirational leaders, more teachers of the game than strategists. Weaver invented new ways of building baseball teams, prioritizing on-base average, elite defense, and strike throwing.

Stephen A. Smith has never been handed anything, nor was he an overnight success. Growing up poor in Queens, the son of Caribbean immigrants and the youngest of six children, he was a sports-obsessed kid who faced struggles, from undiagnosed dyslexia to getting enough cereal to fill his bowl. As a basketball player at Winston-Salem State University, he got a glimmer of his true calling when he wrote a newspaper column arguing for the retirement of his own Hall of Fame coach, Clarence Gaines.

Story
When Kyle Shanahan became the NFL's youngest offensive coordinator in 2008, he had one prevailing rule: Tell me the why. If a colleague couldn't justify his position by providing the unassailable reasoning behind it, he was told to get the hell out of Shanahan's office. Shanahan and the members of his coaching tree—including Sean McVay, Mike McDaniel, Raheem Morris, and Matt LaFleur—came up in a sport where innovation was the exception, not the rule. There had been brilliant football minds before, from Paul Brown to Bill Walsh to Bill Belichick.

Critic reviews
“I’ve been accused of rooting against every team in America, but I am rooting FOR Stugotz’s Personal Record Book. Amazingly, Stugotz has now written exactly one more book than he’s read.”—Joe Buck, voice of Monday Night Football
“If there was a hall of fame for books, Stugotz’s Personal Record Book would be a first-ballot selection.”—Dwight Freeney, Pro Football Hall of Famer
“Sources tell me that Stugotz’s Personal Record Book is more than just a collection of his best takes. He actually added some logic and reason to them. And it is now confirmed: Stugotz and his book are both winners.”—Adam Schefter, ESPN’s Senior NFL Insider and New York Times bestselling author

Grim Wolds, England: Winifred Notty arrives at Ensor House prepared to play the perfect governess—she’ll dutifully tutor her charges, Drusilla and Andrew, tell them bedtime stories, and only joke about eating children. But long, listless days spent within the estate’s dreary confines come with an intimate knowledge of the perversions and pathetic preoccupations of the Pounds family—Mr. Pounds can’t keep his eyes off Winifred’s chest, and Mrs. Pounds takes a sickly pleasure in punishing Winifred for her husband’s wandering gaze.

Entertaining Takes (Good, bad, hot, and flat out awful)
For Stugotz’s first book that he “wrote”, not bad! Pat on the back. If you love listening to sports takes (regardless if they’re valid or downright horrible), this book / audible is worth every penny.

I Felt Ripped Off In The Most Stugotz Way And I Happy About It
I pre-ordered this book the moment I found out about it. I'm glad that I did. To know of Stugotz is to admire the audacity and underhandness that is Stugotz. my dad is 85 and fighting cancer. We listened to this audiobook going back and forth to the doctor appointments. No matter what happened listening to Stugotz lay his layers of BS about the things he claims to care most about (sports) always turned the mood. To find out that Stugotz got other people to do the majority of the work for this book is a testament to the power of Stugotz and leaving the purchaser feeling ripped off while being happy about it.
the Stugotz is strong in this book
