About this listen

In the latest thrilling adventure in the #1 New York Times bestselling series, Stone Barrington is caught in the lethal crossfire between a dear friend and a secret enemy from his past.

After attending an Arrington properties meeting at the group’s newest location, The Vineyard Arrington on Martha's Vineyard, Stone Barrington returns to New York City to catch up with his old friend Jack Coulter. Over lunch, Jack requests Stone’s help in settling his niece Sara into city life post-divorce. Always one to please, Stone takes Sara under his wing.

But when various men from Sara’s past start getting hurt, and Jack’s loved ones find themselves a target in a deadly scheme, it’s up to Stone to put the pieces together . . . before the shrouded conspirer manages to tear them all apart, permanently.

It took me several tries to get through the story. The narrator does a poor job of changing his voice for the different characters. He also changed the accents of a few of the well-know characters like Elaine, Stone's very Greek housekeeper/cook. She now has a "proper" British accent. Totally threw me off the story. After finally getting through the story, it follows the "tone" the stories started taking since Brett Battles has been involved. Brett is definitely putting his own stamp on the series. A few more books will tell me if I will stay a fan of the "new" Stone Barrington series. However, if the narrator stays the same I will not be buying them as audiobooks.

Story pretty good. Narrator is lacking.

As a raving fan of Stuart Woods, I was more than pleased to be able to continue listening to my favourite characters.

My only suggestion is to have Tony Roberts continue doing the narration in the future.

Really enjoyed it!

good storyline..but.. I wasnt to thrilled with the narrator..have gotten used to the previous guy..and have had the voices of all the characters in my head for ever now.. the new narrator was good but.. it keep throwing me off..not recognizing what the characters should have sounded like. made it hard for me to keep up with..who was who

good story line

Just what you would expect for another Stone Barrington book. Should be illegal to have anyone but Tony Roberts narrating though. Took awhile to be able to listen.

Not Tony Roberts

The story line was fine however the narrator did not fill in the gap left by the passing of Tony Robert’s. Dino Bacchetti was okay but others were not especially Stone Barrington. He sounded more like Elvis Cole. Hopefully going forward the narrator will get closer to the syntax used by Tony Robert’s.

Need a different Narrator

I miss the voices of the characters I've come to know so well. RIP Tony...you were always a great reader! Battles gets most of the Woods formula down, but Stone comes off less competent and more of a buffon in his interpretation. A bit too much insult-trading with Dino. All-in-All a decent listen, but I still miss "the old days"!

I miss Tony Roberts...and Stuart Woods!

Not sure if I am going to finish this book. I do not like the Narrator’s voice. I do understand this is now a different author but the authenticity is not the same for me.

Missed Tony Robert’s stone seemed beaded to settle down with one woman. Look forward to next book

I've enjoyed every Stone Barrington novel to date, always fun with a little keystone cop humor. however, I get the sense the theme is changing. they say change is good...let's hope so

Winds of change?

Sorry, Tony Roberts is no longer narrating. Mr Battles is doing a decent job carrying on Stone’s adventures.

Worth a listen if you’re a super fan
