What passes for strategy in too many businesses, government agencies, and military operations is a toxic mix of wishful thinking and a jumble of incoherent policies. Richard P. Everyone would benefit from seeing further into the future, whether buying stocks, crafting policy, launching a new product, or simply planning the week's meals. Unfortunately, people tend to be terrible forecasters. As Wharton professor Philip Tetlock showed in a landmark 2005 study, even experts' predictions are only slightly better than chance. However, an important and underreported conclusion of that study was that some experts do have real foresight.

Today we think statistics are the enemy, numbers used to mislead and confuse us. That’s a mistake, Tim Harford says in The Data Detective. Strategic Problem Solving: A Step-by-Step Guide to Solve Hard Problems
Leverage Data Analysis and Critical Thinking to Make Smart Decisions, Drive Innovation, and Lead with Confidence by Mark Hartley was very thorough and covered every base of many companies' problem-solving dilemmas. Hartley's 7-step process has many factions, which he explains very well. From Critical Thinking to Consulting (the road map to success) to Confidence Building with the proper delivery of voice, posture, and mindset... doing a quality job performance problem-solving consistently can only improve your esteem and a better chance to advance in your company. The bottom line is that following the book's strategies in problem-solving can help both your career and your personal life. Not sure if I am spelling these ideas Hartley shared toward the end of the book he mentions the McKenzie and the Japanese TiDing approach to problem solving. Hartley's motto, "Your success is my motivation," leaves a positive note of the book. Well done.
