About this listen
Ten years ago he broke her heart. Now he's determined to win her back.
Nobody expects to meet the love of their life on their first day at school, but from the moment Tanner Hartson set his eyes on Savannah Butler, she stole his breath away. She was beautiful, wild and free. And though her life was hard, she made everything feel easy.
As they grew up, they were best friends. Then sweethearts. And finally lovers. Until he broke her heart in the worst way.
They haven't spoken for the last ten years. But now she's returned to their small home town and he can't fight the intense attraction that keeps pulling them together.
He wants her back. And this time he won't take no for an answer.
Doesn't true love deserve a second chance?
Contains mature themes.

I was a small-town girl with big city dreams and more ambition than money to my name. He had everything—money, privilege, and the world at his feet. Opposites in every way, but that didn’t matter. We were lightning in a bottle, and everything felt possible when we were together. Life was perfect.

Keeping things professional with my employees has never been an issue. Until she waltzed onto my property. Billie is talented. She's mouthy. And she's so damn tempting. I can't stop thinking about all the ways I could take her down a peg. I can't stop thinking about her, period. We clash from the moment we meet. And in a small town, on an even smaller farm, it's hard to keep your distance. It's even harder to keep that friction from turning to fire. But keeping my distance? That might be the biggest struggle of all.

Someone is stalking Audrey Young. And she has no idea why. Complicating matters is her landlord and new neighbor, Josiah Haven. She doesn’t usually go for the big, surly lumberjack type. But there’s something about that broody man. He intimidates her a little, but she kind of likes it. She could totally handle the mess that is her life, except the strange feeling of being watched is just the beginning. Next thing Audrey knows, she’s a target, and she doesn’t know who’s behind it or why. For Josiah Haven, none of that makes her his problem.

Marrying Beckett Coleman is the best idea I've had in years. I can grant my sick dad’s wish to walk one of his daughters down the aisle, and Beckett has my help solving a custody situation with his daughter. Our plan is to spend a year together, then part ways. Easy, especially since I'm not his type, and he's not mine either. He’s too quiet and too serious. And while he’s distractingly gorgeous, he’s also my brother’s teammate. Beckett is fake husband material, not the real deal. I just have to remember that.

My name is Adelaide Edington, and my life was mapped out for me before I even entered the world: who I'd date, where I’d attend college, what I'd be when I grew up. But there comes a time in everyone's life when they face a fork in the road. Should I go left, or should I go right? It didn't matter as long as I didn't remain stagnant any longer. Jett Stone opened me up to a whole new world, reminding me that it was okay to find my own way. I could have roots in Willow Springs and still spread my wings and fly. What I didn't expect was to fall in love with the broody football player.

My new neighbor is a firefighter - and a scorching-hot single dad - but I swear I didn’t set off that smoke alarm on purpose. (And I was beyond mortified when he rushed in and saw me naked.) Nothing happened, of course - because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance junkie and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year. Even protective men with chiseled jaws, bulging biceps, and deep brown eyes that make my breath come faster.

I’ve sworn off men to focus on my dream job that starts on Monday. But my best friend talks me into a final night of fun—a blind date. I only agree because the guy is going to work as a doctor in Africa. It’s the best date of my life. Dr. Africa makes me laugh and swoon, and I want to give him a thorough physical examination. He turns into Dr. One Night Stand, and I’m not sad about it. Monday morning, I’m enthusiastic and excited, until I bump into...you guessed it.

Love wins again
What a perfectly executed second chance romance. I think Tanner and Van's love story is the sweetest so far. I'm s sucker for grand gestures from cheesy movies, I had the biggest smile during that part.
Also it was nice to see how Van was able to work through her shame and realize she wasn't accountable for her mothers mistakes and poor behavior as an alcoholic. It's hard for some of us to come to terms with the fact that there is nothing you can do that will magically make it enough for your parents to change or face the errors of their ways. No matter how hard you try to push it and self sacrifice. It was sweet how Zoey was the one to point that out and that no matter what people say about your parents it's not a direct reflection of yourself and their opinions have no power over you unless you let them. Kids are great that way and we have a lot we can learn from them as adults.

That young love…
Tanner and Van were best friends since he knocked her down in kindergarten. They went through a lot together then sacrifices were made and the friendship fractured. That was 10 yrs ago…now both are back home for various reasons and they are working on repairing their friendship. Will past hurts and secrets prevent their HEA? Love this second story in the series! Looking forward to more of the ‘Heartbreak’ brothers.

Decent plot
Amateur writing could have used a better editor. Some of the characters were irritating even though they should have been represented as loving and supportive. I liked the narrator and hope to listen to more books she reads.

Narration is good!
I had to take a breather after finishing the book and writing this review. I was livid after reading about the reason that broke them up. That reason isn't even broached until near the end of the book, so I'm fooled into thinking that it's a love story. It's not. There is NO romance, just a pouting boy who now wants Van back, but not really since he made no attempt to find her in 10 years after he did her very wrong. Here's the story....Van and Tanner met in kindergarten and became best friends. They had plans to go to Duke together, graduate, and have a home and children, but it all went awry when Van's mother became pregnant, and she gave her mother the money intended to pay for school. She had to tell Tanner that she couldn't go with him, so she pushed him away to go to Duke, telling him she didn't want him anymore. He was so angry and tried to get in touch with her, but she didn't respond. At the first party of the semester, Tanner pouts and decides it would be a good idea to get drunk. The weak-willed, wussy-boy had no problem sleeping with another woman that night. Val has now realized her error that she shouldn't have pushed Tanner away, so she goes to Duke to ask him if they can start over again. He answers the door, is shocked to see her, but the damage is done when his sex partner appears at the door wearing nothing but his shirt. He's in shock, freezes and can't say a word to Val, and lets her run away, crying. Does the asshole even try to run after her? Nope! Gee, I guess he must not really have been too concerned or had any deep, abiding love (as he claimed) for her. He calls, texts and gives up. I think he "probably" knew where she lived, but that would be too much work. For ten years they are estranged until Van comes home to take care of her little sister. They patch things up way too quickly and totally ignore the trauma of Duke. He brings it up, but Van doesn't want to hear about it so he leaves it alone. Finally, he gets some ball and tells her everything, including how the woman he slept with "meant nothing to me." How cliche and disappointing. From that point on, I didn't care to read the rest, because he showed remore, but barely. There was no grovel because what he did was "understandable, considering how he was lonely." There is a happy ending, but I don't believe in it. I can't recommend a love story without love.
Charlotte Claremont does a nice job with the narration. Her dynamic voice, nice inflection and good pacing work to bring this story to life.
