About this listen

Suspended helplessly between life and death, Luke Skywalker lies in state at the Jedi academy. But on the spirit plane, Luke fights desperately for survival, reaching out physically to the Jedi twins.

At the same time, Leia is on a life-and-death mission of her own, a race against Imperial agents hoping to destroy a third Jedi child - Leia and Han's baby Anakin, hidden on the planet Anoth.

Meanwhile, Luke's former protégé, Kyp Durron, has pirated the deadly Sun Crusher on an apocalyptic mission of mass destruction, convinced he is fighting for a just cause. Hunting down the rogue warrior, Han must persuade Kyp to renounce his dark crusade and regain his lost honor. To do it, Kyp must take the Sun Crusher on a suicide mission against the awesome Death Star prototype: a battle Han knows they may be unable to win...even with Luke Skywalker at their side!

"Anthony Heald, the consummate reader, does an excellent rendition of this modern classic. His abilities elevate him above all others. Reproducing the character voices with great effectiveness, his voice, enhanced by sound effects, keeps the listener riveted. This action-filled, well-paced performance is worth listening to over and over." (AudioFile)

There’s a universality to the Star Wars franchise, a world so sprawling that no matter who you are, you’re bound to find something—an adventure, a moment, a character—that resonates with you. And if you were to ask any fan, they’d likely be able to recount a memory directly tied to the series. On a 2021 journey from the East Coast to the Outer Rim, one Audible editor and Star Wars superfan saw all of her wildest, most interstellar dreams become reality.

the story is AMAZING, I loved it all. but the narrator is terrible. he mispronounces almost all the names of the planets throughout the trilogy, and he also changes the voices for the characters in the B- plot several times. He used his normal voice for Wedge for the first book, but thought the second and third he flips back and forth between that and some poorly done Scottish accent several times a chapter and sometimes even halfway though a sentence.

I don't think the narrator has ever seen star wars

These are the stories Disney should be using! Selling the real fans short with their own versions

Great book!

The story is ok, the abridged version jumps around a bit. The unabridged version might be better.

The narrator is mediocre. He does not pronounce names correctly. At times he speaks almost too fast to understand him, other times he's on the verge of slurring his words. Some dialog is said with the wrong personality and character which comes across as odd.

The overall quality of the narration is marginal. Getting past the above mentioned issues, the book is understandable and is easy to follow.

The narratoration is mediocre

These are definitely written for a younger audience but they are fun to listen to. This second one was better than the first. Reminded me lots of the plot points in the movies. Good narrator. Worth listening to if you like star wars, want to know what happens right after movies end and want a simple listen. Sound effects sometimes bother me but these are good.

Good Star Wars Books

Would you try another book from Kevin J. Anderson and/or Anthony Heald?

For Sure! I've listened to this whole trilogy

Who was your favorite character and why?

In this trilogy? Hard to say. Thrawn is a great villain.

Which character – as performed by Anthony Heald – was your favorite?

Again, probably Thrawn.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Definitely!

Any additional comments?

The audio wasn't as good of a quality as the previous two in the series, but I was glad to find it, it wasn't on iTunes.

Not bad, but not as good as the rest

It's was an ok story line the narrator is horrible. I'm staying in order that's why I listen to it.

It was ok

This was a good abridged edition, but all characters sound the same.

This one had the potential to feel like an actual movie playing just for my ears. The length and pacing was perfect.

I'm docking points off mostly for how all characters sound, especially women. I had a hard time tracking down who was talking. It didn't help much that the narrator kept mispronouncing established character and location names

Lousy narration. Abridged works for this one
