About this listen
Book One of The Sophie Stearns Adventures is set in a bustling company town, where the everyday is anything but ordinary. Sophie and the G-Man chronicles Sophie's accidental entry into a parallel dimension where she needs to solve the mystery of the device that transported her and the reason it exists in the first place.
©2020 Rook Creek Books (P)2024 Rook Creek BooksSophie is still recovering from a horrifying experience that has changed all of her plans for the foreseeable future. She is then thrown for a loop when an unknown person gives her the means to travel across alternate dimensions. Minus the instruction manual. She wakes up in a world not quite her own, with a splitting headache and ...are those the voices of her alternate selves chatting in her head? She must figure out which of her friends she can trust to discover who did this to her and why.
The author does an excellent job of immersing you into Sophie's reality as she comes to terms with the alternate versions of the people she once knew. The narrator offers insight into the other characters by giving subtle hints at their personalities based on the tone of their voice. What a cad. A great spin on the classic time travel, sci-fi trope with a dash of whodunnit. I cannot wait for the next instalment of this series!
A new take on a classic sci-fi genre

My review from when I first read it:
I thought it opened a bit campy, interesting but not compelling. I didn't quite care about Albin yet when he drank the serum, but it was still a shock, and suddenly I was hooked.
Sophie is an irresistible character, even before adding the extra depth of multiple Sophies. I think I would enjoy reading her character in almost any situation you can come up with. She's smart, complicated, and unpredictable in the best possible ways.
The deeper the story goes, the more I want to know. TDCs, the variability of the dimensions, the unanswered questions about why things are happening and who is involved...
The last half of the book flew by and left me hungry for what's next. Please don't make me wait too long!
Anyway, what I mean to say is that I liked your book. Also, lava snakes with a taste for foxy astronauts, 😂
