About this listen
Be it known, your sins will find you out, but God’s mercy endureth forever!
Can a wife find the grace to forgive when her husband’s withheld the truth? Travis Buckmeyer has a secret son, and the morning’s come to tell his sweet wife. He hates breaking Emma Lee’s heart. She promised him one 10 years ago, but hasn’t been blessed to carry a baby to term. Every miscarriage made the telling harder, but now his clock’s run out. He’s going for his son, praying he won’t lose her.
Cody knows whom his mother claims his father is, but he’s only interested in getting sprung from reform school, then boosting enough from the do-gooder to bust out on his own.
Can Travis find redemption, Emma Lee forgiveness, or Cody the love he’s been longing for?

Just wonderful!
I absolutely loved this book. Travis's wife, Emma Lee, had never been able to give him a son like she'd promised. Now he had to tell her, the love of his life, about the son he'd known he had with another before they'd ever started dating. Not only does he tell her that he has a son he's kept a secret for years, but the boy, Cody, now 12, is in trouble, and Travis plans to bring him home to live with them that very day!
What follows is a story full of doubt, shame, pain, fear, disappointment, regret, guilt, repentance, acceptance, forgiveness, friendship, salvation, and joy. All with a strong undercurrent of love and family, along with the wonderful grace and perfect planning of God.
The author did a terrific job of portraying the mixed feelings of first love. Difficult topics like miscarriage, a child conceived out of wedlock, alcoholism, and abuse are touchingly handled with honesty. The few instances of danger will get your heart pumping, and the steadfast devotion and faith in God that's witnessed throughout the entire novel will inspire you.
I never read the books in a series out of order, but I won this copy, so it's the only book of the series I've read/ listened to. It works very well as a stand alone (although there is a little teaser at the end). However, I enjoyed it so much that I can't wait to go back and start from the beginning of the series. Congratulations to Carlyn McAdoo for a job very well done! The narrator, Jeremy Francis, did a great job of conveying emotion as well.

Sweet story of forgiveness and love.
This was my first audio book. Easy listening. It was a sweet story of forgiveness and love. It tells of the young boy, Cody, who went from feeling unwanted to finding his forever home with his father and step mother. I appreciated the references to God and it showed a natural progression to salvation even when their past was a mess. Jeremy Francis was the Narrator. He did a good job of differentiating between characters even though I didn’t always like his female inflection. Overall an enjoyable story.
