About this listen
Endric wants only to serve, but he's destined to lead.
As the second son of the general of the Denraen, Endric wants only to fight, not the commission his father demands of him. When a strange attack in the south leads to the loss of someone close to him, only Endric seems concerned about what happened.
All signs point to an attack on the city, and betrayal by someone deep within the Denraen, but his father no longer trusts his judgment. This forces Endric to make another impulsive decision, one that leads him far from the city on a journey where he discovers how little he knew, and how much more he has to understand. If he can prove himself in time, and with the help of his new allies, he can stop a greater disaster.

Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

The twins have traveled far and experienced great hardship. But with the help of Vex’s quick wit and Vax’s quicker dagger, they’ve always kept ahead of trouble. One dimensional
Somehow this writer has great story writing abilities and somehow allows the books to be one dimessional. Throughout the stories you hear the same nuances of thoughts as the main character goes through the same thought cycles as if trying to unravel themselves. The other characters and the world in the story is secondary to their thought cycle. it's as if the author attempts to unravel for us the complexity of thoughts and feelings of her main character without enough time spent allowing the reader to explore the other characters and the world she's building. I love her writing style in terms of having the ability to describe, create contrasts, provide examples, but at some point in the books it feels like a repetition of the same thing but from a different angle. the introspection the main characters go through seems too involved if it takes away from everything else in the story. Somehow, whenever I listen to one of this author's books, my thought go back to the reasons why I love love love some of my favorite books of all time - The Way Of Kings, The Blade Itself, etc. the characters in these books had internal struggles that was understood through their actions as the story went on, which left room for the reader to do some introspection of their own, as they share in the feeling and thoughts of the characters they eventually read to love. The other characters (apart from the main) came to life as chapters were dedicated to developing them and world building was seen from the perspective of all these vibrant people in the story that held the story together. These books have flavor, texture and personality all wrapped in one book. Characters from her book aren't seen again until the main character interacts with them. I'll assume a love story coming to life in the beginning of the story but the main character gets shipped to another country and at the end of the book when he returns to his own country its when we see the other characters again. I want to know if she/he waited, what was happening in both worlds, what their personality is like as demonstrated - that gives me reason to understand the love connection and relate to it, were they involve with someone else, did they have struggles of their own, how did they interact with the world around them, what hint can I pin future expectations on between the two. I'm just saying, if it's just the main character the story is about, I need to close the book quarter of the way and say to myself, that was a good book, because somehow I always find it difficult to continue reading from that point. I seem to realize the same cycles at that point and it becomes difficult to ignore them as I continue reading. I feel like I'm warping myself out by taking part in the character continuous repetitive recurring thoughts!
