About this listen

A picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes the story behind the picture is worth a thousand more.

2 CHILDREN FOR SALE.

In 1931, near Philadelphia, ambitious reporter Ellis Reed photographs the gut-wrenching sign posted beside a pair of siblings on a farmhouse porch. With the help of newspaper secretary Lily Palmer, Ellis writes an article to accompany the photo. Capturing the hardships of American families during the Great Depression, the feature story generates national attention and Ellis's career skyrockets.

But the piece also leads to consequences more devastating than he and Lily ever imagined - and it will risk everything they value to unravel the mystery and set things right.

Inspired by a newspaper photo that stunned readers throughout the country, Sold on a Monday is a powerful novel of ambition, redemption, love, and family.

excellent read

Not what I expected. Love interest, suspense, gangsters, it kept me guess. Read for book club, good choice, we will have a lot to talk about.

Unexpected

This a combination working in a newspaper, looking for a good story, children sold. It has a sense of mystery as well as acquainting us with life during the Great Depression of the 1930’s.

Twists and turns

Hallmark meets mystery. Very entertaining and kept me wondering till the very end. Really engaging plot twists.

Didn't care for it.

Read it for Book Club or I would have put it down about halfway. Too many rabbits out of the hat to make it plausible. Are people really that naive and oblivious to reality. The book could pass as fantasy instead of fiction

Fiction based on historical events

Good story, I found it interesting from the beginning. There were some unexpected twists and turns, and the story was exciting to the end.
