About this listen

I-i-it’s not like a spider needs friends!

I did it! I’m finally an Arachne!...Aaand things already aren’t going the way I thought they would. I’m inexplicably on a road trip with the Demon Lord, a reincarnated baby, and her troubled vampire guardian. I don’t really interact with them much, besides subjecting my reborn classmate to insane training, watching the party sneak off into villages, hearing about the delicious food they eat…Wait, hold up. Doesn’t it seem like I’m the only one who’s being left out?!? W-w-well, the monsters up here taste delicious, so whatever! Sniff, sniff. I wonder if my other brains are having a better time… What are they even up to?

I watched the anime and got tired of waiting. I wasn't disapointed. I will likly check out the rest after this.

worth it

This was a great one for me because it started to cover material not in the anime and also filled in the middle of the story a bit. We see the beginning of "White" and how the others around her see her. Lots of fun.

My Favorite So Far

This series remains one of my favorites for just a fun listen. Quality of content remains high.

Continues to be Great

this book has continued the magnificent writing from previous books, especially with the lack of Shun and his future PoV plot line. the voice acting is as magnificent as always and even though no major jumps in power or revelations in world backstory happened, it still felt complete and incredibly engaging.

another splendid sequel

Loved the whole naked adventure bit with the old man :) and it was really nice to see wakaba talk more

Fun view of different perspectives

I'll start out with the most important thing: Caitlin Kelly is still a genius as a narrator. I wish she narrated more stuff I'm interested in. Also, the primary issue with the earlier books, the super long appraisal readouts, is much less present in this book, as there just isn't much combat.

Ok, now that the well-deserved praise is out of the way: After the main side storyline in the earlier books finally ended in book 5 I was like "yay, now we should get more than 50% of the books from the spider's POV! There are 28 chapters, and only 5 (!!!!!) are spider POV chapters! It's especially bad in the middle, where there's a 3 hour stretch (11 chapters!) with nary a spider to be found.

All that aside, the first time I listened to this, I really enjoyed all the side character POVs, I thought they were much more interesting than Shun and his annoying friends, but I'm here for Kumoko, and when I listened for the second time I had much less interest in Ronandt and Aurel and even the vampire buddies. They're super important and progress the story just as much as the main chapters, but it feels like I'm eating my vegetables during these chapters, while Kumoko is somehow both the steak and also the pie for dessert. And the overall world and story is still super interesting, so I really hope the next book is more spiderful.

Way too much non-Kumoko stuff happening

So far this is definitely my favorite. But have not finished the series yet so this could change. So on to the next one.

This mostly follows up on some topics that the previous book glances over, and makes pretty amusing choices of which characters to focus on. Couldn’t stop reading.

I’m not big on isekai but plot is consistently good here

story: far fewer if any time jumps, focuses on spider gang primarily but offers exposition and characterization for characters who come into play later, much more of a fun feeling not being in elf village. 4 stars only because I'm trying to reserve 5 star stories for ones that have an even greater impact. loved it though!

production: Caitlin Kelley continues to nail voice differentiation and really does the lion's share for making this a joy to listen to. PLEASE continue to do the reading for these. she's perfect for this story
