About this listen
A former ward of the state, Jason Ferris is fiercely protective of his carefully guarded private life. When he's felled by a rogue lawn ornament at a Christmas party, Jason finds himself in the care of his first and most devastating love - dark, dangerous, and equally damaged Lt. Robb Sharpe.
Newly returned from years away in the military, Robb's homecoming isn't exactly the stuff of fairytales. Now thrust together after a ten year hiatus, the Jason and Robb discover that perhaps some things are worth waiting for.
This is a male/male contemporary Christmas romance, set in rural Connecticut. Sweet and sometimes funny, Simple Gifts is a story of second chances, reconnection, and the simple art of origami.

Story
Retired action star Levi Pritchard has made a quiet life for himself in the sleepy logging town of Bluewater Bay, Washington. But then Hollywood comes to film the wildly popular television series Wolf’s Landing, and Bluewater Bay isn’t so sleepy anymore. His retirement doesn’t stick, either, because he’s offered a part on the show—exactly the kind of complex role he’d always wanted, one that would prove him more than a glorified stuntman. The only catch? He has to stay in the closet—no matter how attractive he finds his costar.

"Coming home from work to find my boyfriend banging our hairy, married landlord—in our bed—was bad enough. Discovering Jamie had also cleaned out my bank accounts made it officially the worst day of my life. I think I can be forgiven for wanting revenge, even if a few little laws (and possibly Jamie's nose) got bent in the process."

Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend, Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. Good listen.
I enjoy this author very much. Jason was abandoned by his mother at a bus station at six years old by his mother. He spent the next twelve years being shuffled from foster home to foster home with clothes on his back. Robb 's father is in politics and Robb feels out of the family loop. This short story is about these two intensely private and socially dis connected men trying to find a way through and around the obstacles they have created to see if there is a place for them.
