About this listen

After an embarrassing loss to her ex-girlfriend in their first basketball game of the season, Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, Irene Abraham, who is as beautiful as she is mean. When the damage sends Irene's car to the shop for weeks' worth of repairs, the girls are forced to carpool for the foreseeable future.

Their rocky start only gets bumpier the more time they spend together. But when an opportunity presents itself for Scottie to get back at her toxic ex (and climb their school's social ladder at the same time), she bribes Irene into playing along.

I liked it more than I thought I would. It was a teen/YA romance, with all the requisite drama. There was an underlying complexity in the writing that made it all work. The MC was frustrating in her emotional handwringing, but it seemed like an accurate portrayal of teen romance. And both characters displayed a level of maturity that was honestly refreshing. Really well done.

I'm a sucker for rom-coms and this one didn't disappoint. It definitely has that more modern take where things don't fall into place out of nowhere, but it's a decent build-up of feelings over time, as well as realistic struggles with said emotions. I also like how maturely the characters end up dealing with their feelings instead of big blow-ups or just grand gestures for the sake of gestures. There's communication and healing and although, it definitely hurts at times to get through, the happy ending feels deserved by the end.

Decent premise, unexpected but amazing execution

SO GOOD

The storyline was cute and so so cheesy but I loved it. I found myself constantly yelling at the main character and the character development was enjoyable. My only complaint is the adolescent ages but that’s a personal complaint and not one on the author or the story. Cute!

I could not stop listening, Ms. Quindlen made me fall in love with sapphic romances with Her Name In The Sky, and the love affair continues here.

Kelly Quindlen's third outing is another success.

I loved this book! It was such a great read. It’s suppose to be enemies to lovers but it’s so much more! I love the characters, the plot and how important communication is in this book.

Heartfelt!

Predictably heartwarming a fun easy listen. It's nice to find a queer story that isn't based on a cheating spouse or a predatory adult. You know what is going to happen but the character development is lovely and the story is just as charming as every cheesy 80s and 90s movies it mentions.

Sweet inclusive story

*No spoilers* this book is too good to do that you you!

Not once while listening to "She Drives Me Crazy" did I take a break. This story definitely deserves a movie. A light, easy listen but with an engaging story with unseen twists, "She Drives Me Crazy" will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions - through sadness, frustration, excitement, horror, guilt, regret and strongest of all, hope! The story of Scottie's life and her friends as they navigate their way through Senior Year will inspire younger readers and bring back a wave of strong emotions for those young at heart. Balanced with modern and retro references and involving important issues from discrimination, homophobia, first love and coming of age, Scottie's Final Year adventure will sink it's hooks into a relevant part close to all of us. For a light, easy, entertaining but well written and performed Audiobook you can't go past this one. For those of us who's Senior Year is a distant memory, there is no shame in enjoying this YA listen. I would recommend for YA readers 12 and up for the issues present, no strong scenes of vice but does contain some mature themes and occasional coarse language.

A wonderful listen I couldn't pause!
