About this listen
Kwan Wilson was a high school basketball star living in San Diego when a tragic accident changed his life in ways no one could predict. He only looked at his phone for a few seconds, but that was all the time it took to crash his car into a telephone pole, killing his mother and paralyzing him from the waist down.
After the accident, his father, Admiral Douglas Wilson, sent him off to live with his maternal grandmother in South Florida. Kwan's new principal, anticipating his depression and isolation, tells him about an internship at a genetics lab in Miami that is testing shark stem cells on rats in an effort to cure cancer and repair spinal injuries. Kwan declines, until he learns the beautiful Anya Patel is an intern at the lab. When Kwan takes the internship, he learns that the good news is that the stem cells are curing their rat subjects; the bad news is it alters their DNA so much, it kills them. But after a promising breakthrough is made, Kwan risks his life and injects himself with the experimental stem cells, forever altering his destiny and the lives of millions in the process.

Story
In 2007, two CIA spooks meet with an American colonel in military intelligence. The war is going badly, and President Bush, who steadfastly refuses to back down, remains unchallenged at home as Democrats and Republicans focus on the 2008 elections. Meanwhile, Iran's pursuit of nuclear energy will yield enriched uranium by 2012 - uranium that could be used to manufacture suitcase nukes. The US military is too drained to invade Iran, and a preemptive strike is out of the question.

Story
Dante's Inferno, his depiction of hell, was written while Europe was suffering through war, famine, the corruption of the Church, and the evils of the pogrom - the brutal massacre of countless Jews. Shortly after Dante's passing, the black plague killed off half the world's population, an end-of-days-like event that birthed a legend depicted in paintings and dance: the Grim Reaper. What few people know is that Dante's poem draws inspiration from the Zohar, an ancient text that warns that the true end of days will be brought on by the corruption of man.

Unusual and Interesting story
First narrator was very good, that said the story itself is Unusual but Interesting. The way the plot runs out , in reality it is how I would expect some government military type to do just what happens in this story.

Sharkman
by Steve Alten, Andrew Eiden (Narrator)
I really loved this audible book! What a thrilling ride (or swim) all the way through! So much going on. The interpersonal dynamics of family, of friends, then his own feelings of being paralyzed, the hope of walking again, the changes he goes through, he is kidnapped...so much more...! Terrific story and well developed characters! Well thought out! Hope there will be another!
The narrator was terrific and performed great!

Fascinating, interesting tale
Excellent narration. Tale starts out a little slow, but quickly ramps up. Story set almost entirely in the now which I found refreshing. Cool story. Premise works if you can suspend disbelief a little. Overall, enjoyable and completely different than anything I've read in quite awhile.

Good Book
I really enjoyed this story. I just wish it was longer. There's not much to complain about except for all the Asian women (except the grandma) being portrayed as promiscuous (The guy's mom is said to slept with every sailor in town, and the girl to take his pants off in the ocean... Asian friend of the girl he likes). I also wish they'd got to the part about the main character's transformation a bit faster. Aside from that it's a solid super hero origin story. I feel like there's more stories to tell with the two super characters, so the ending feels a bit abrupt. It's a shame this isn't part of a series. I'd buy the audiobook of book 2 if it were longer than 10 hours.

Dumb Fun
Sometimes after a listening to a few heavy dramas you need a no brainer, Sharkman for a daily deal was just that. With a ridiculous premise that requires the reader to suspend belief and not analyze any of it, Sharkman manages to be entertaining til the end even though it's full of Bull Shark

Too sudden an ending
I felt that the ending seemed rushed, otherwise good overall. Thought maybe the package going back to the abyss, with the Tigress taking care of the Admiral and friends might have been a more deserving fate.

Don’t judge the book by its cover!
I know I got this book on sale because the book cover would have thrown me at a full credit, looks like 50’s sci-fi! But actually it was pretty darn good, very entertaining! Yes it has shades of YA, so what, I thought it was fun! I’d recommend getting it on sale!

9/11 Red Flag
The meteoric tale of a young man who loses the use of his legs in an accident who becomes as the title says the shark man . A whole lot of medical jargon mixed in with family drama that is then muddled by the military is evil, everyone in the military is evil, 9/11 red flag, conspiracy theories, a terrorist chick that never make sense, you name it . It's an okay read, I'm glad I got it on sale .
