About this listen
Have you ever wondered, “Lord, why am I here?” Matthew Haley was a black kid from the South Side of Chicago. He lost his mother to a drug overdose when he was ten. The state separated him from his siblings, and they put him in foster care.
But God had already set him apart, angels watched over him, and he found a way out. After six years in the army and some PTSD, he returned to Chicago, but why? There was no reason to go back there. There was nothing for him.
But God had a plan. Matthew would meet a retired judge named Gabe Williams, find a lottery ticket, and meet a lovely young lady named Bianca. Then one day, he met a little blonde Cocker Spaniel named Beasley. With all these and Gabriel, Matthew slowly began to understand why he was “Set Apart.”
Matthew Haley would find hope, redemption, and a second chance.

Real life issues
This is the first I’ve read/listened to by this author and was very pleasantly surprised.
This story deals with a growing issue in our world and the author did an amazing job of writing it with delicate candor.
A strong salvation theme with faith and hope woven throughout was one of the things I loved about it.
As a frequent audiobook listener, I was surprised at how well the AI generated voice sounded pretty realistic.
I highly recommend this book to my fellow readers.
