About this listen
Even before the pandemic and all those horrible lockdowns, there was an unmistakable trend towards being more online, including online dating and different interactions. And then the pandemic happened, accelerating the already existing trend.
Why?
Because we are human and we need human interaction and, yes, human touch, more so as all else was heavily restricted during the lockdowns. And so, we have massively turned towards that wonder of technology to explore beyond boundaries and horizons.
Let’s face it, technology is great for aiding communication and creating opportunity. It allows us to reach across vast distance and even overcome political barriers to liaise with many, many people we would not otherwise have the opportunity to be in contact with. Because of this, the world isn’t shrinking – it is increasing and with greater knowledge it is certainly increasing in wonder.
And this is a good thing for if there is one thing the world needs more of is communication.
Whereas at one point in the past there might have been a certain social stigma attached to admitting to being involved in online dating, these days there is not. These days it is the norm, partially because of the pandemic restrictions and partially because of the prevalence of technology, connectivity AND the very human urge to explore beyond previously restrictive horizons.
We want to see beyond those horizons - and online dating creates that very worthwhile opportunity.
We can now experience the world. While this clearly has both advantages and disadvantages, conversing with otherwise strangers in a different part of the country, as well as a different part of the world, is now a definite rush of activity and revealing workplace conversations, for those who don’t work from home.
The fact is online dating has become the window to the world. With an inherent curiosity we have an insatiable urge to explore. This is the great benefit of technology, the same for all cultures throughout our wide and varied world.
True, in this new world that has developed in which there seems few rules, some rules still apply. For example, regardless of the medium, we all still have to wade through the idiots and the pervs and the scammers to find the worthwhile people. A bit life real life.
And it’s true. Within the wild freedom of the internet in which we believe everything and anything is possible and, we believe anonymity, there are still rules. It’s just that, entering into this new world, most people are not aware of the rules because all they perceive is freedom where it is easy to believe everyone is as honest and trustworthy as we ourselves are.
But they aren’t.
This is the attraction and the risk AND the reason behind this guide. It has been written to help keep YOU safe. It has been written to make you aware that there is a brave new world out there, a brave new world with brave new risks – and I want you to gain the most and gain the best out of the experience.
Just because there are risks, they should NEVER stop us from experience. All it means is that you simply need to be aware of the risks … and watch out for the warning signs that can alert you to the possibility not all might be as it seems. Yes, a bit like real life.
In every new world there are risks. This is no exception. And look around … we’ve always been explorers. It’s in our genes.
So go forth into the new world and, by being aware of the risks, this increases your chances of having THE most incredible time EVER. Don’t allow anyone to stop you from being who you really are and what you really want.
