About this listen
Selected by Barnes and Noble as a Top Indie Favorite
The secrets were buried . . . until clues began to bloom.
Ivy Rune’s only goal is to pass her final exam and become an Arborist like her late father, even though she fears she’ll never be able to truly uphold his legacy. Just before her big test, Ivy discovers her father’s secrets . . . and they had nothing to do with the quiet life he led.
Suddenly, clues unspool from wood carvings and old journals, leading Ivy to the outskirts of town and straight to the Count’s forbidden castle. When Ivy uncovers a hidden world of magic, she and her best friend are unexpectedly altered. As they explore their new powers, Ivy realizes she is capable of much more than the simple life her father left for her.
Now Ivy must decide between inheriting her father’s Arborist trade or continuing to uncover the mystery he kept hidden. But uprooting the past might erase her father’s legacy and change the course of Ivy’s life forever.
If you enjoyed the magic of Caraval and the mysteries of The Inheritance Games, you'll love this lush fantasy world brimming with adventure and friendship.

Excellent storytelling
I loved this book. It had me gripped from the first chapter. It’s the kind of story that puts you right in the middle. I felt what Ivy felt. The wonder, the excitement, the pain, the loss, all of it! I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Highly recommend

Highly Recommend!
Wonderful read! Beautiful imagery, great storyline, highly recommend! This book reads almost like a movie! I am a mother of two young children who doesn’t have a lot of time to read. With this book, I couldn’t wait to get back to it every day! Can’t wait to read the sequel!

Something new
While this is the first book in the series so quite a bit of world building, there was still adventure and intrigue. The narrator Kim Churchill, now one of my top favorite did a wonderful job. The storyline was so different than another book I’ve read. Making it a refreshing read. Of course now we must continue on to the next book to get any answers.

Unique and Intriguing
I absolutely loved this book. It was a story all its own, a unique story that drew me in and kept me listening. Following Ivy as she unwrapped the mystery surrounding her father’s disappearance and her place in the town, the story took delightfully unexpected turns. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series!

Clean, Cozy and Refreshing
This was a fun and cozy story that had a good bit of mystery to keep you wondering and guessing. My wife and I figured out some stuff, but not everything and it was nice. It was also refreshing to have something that was simple and not crazy it gave me that refresh I needed woth my reading od something that I could enjoy without over thinking anything. Some of the characters seemed off and how I've reacted with some people was weird and seemed off, but it wasnt too off-putting because other characters and development over powered the times where it felt it wasn't done right. God Bless
