About this listen

"The Hand of Fate is a delightful story of hope and heartache, and of the rich world of Brodie Manor and its Scottish people, that readers will love getting lost in." – Writer's Digest

Love, Duty, and War

Love vs. Duty
With his life as a powerful knight a distant memory, Lennox has embraced the comfortable, peaceful rhythm of life at Brodie Manor with his wife Maggie, son Kendric, and the wee bairn they thought would never be. Lennox's dream of raising Friesian horses is coming true as well. Is it too good to be true?

Call to War
War has erupted in Ireland, and the king orders Lennox back into service. The king assures him he will be far from the throes of battle, and Lennox tries to calm Maggie's fears. At the same time, Lennox wrestles with the life he left behind and the one he's come to love—the stakes couldn't be higher.

Fate's Hand
The final battle is nearly over, and the king's men are victorious. Tension subsides, and the men let down their guard a bit too soon. A few enemy soldiers move to attack the king, and Lennox rushes forward to defend him. Then fate, a silent and unwelcome visitor, steps in.
