About this listen
Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the best-selling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison - even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life.
When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Better than the last one.
This book was better than the last one......at least, the second part was.
First half of the book.......Three stars.
Second half of the book...Four and a half stars (getting to five there).
Overall...........Four stars.
However..
The issues that I had with Cinder, were there. For example, the simplistic and not very bright characters. Don't misunderstand me! They're still likeable and I thought Cinder was much better this time around , Scarlet was a strong character but a bit predictable.
I did enjoy the book and was entertained by it, so I'll wait for the next one. ;)

I love this entire series. Such a great imaginative story that even my teenaged son enjoyed it!

Book 2 done...on to 3
A little long for listening, but the details given to the introduction of pertinent characters was done perfectly.

Strongly recommend!
The first book in this series was a required read for a course I was taking. I loved the first one so much that I had to read this one too (or listen to)! Absolutely amazing!

Good series
Good Series. As a veteran of epic fantasy novels and series, I find this a pleasant romp. The narrator is exceptionally good. very enjoyable.

Couldn't get the first book out of my head.
Book 2 did n o.j. t disappoint and I'm looking forward to 3.
Hard to tell people about a great book where Cinderella is a cyborg princess from another planet.. But its interesting and once in a while i have to remember they are Chinese.

Wow!
Great read for the person who enjoys a story of the underdog and the battles they face good or bad. A great story for those who love just outside reality themes. Perfrct got a young teen or an adult looking for a adventure.

Agreed, not as great as Cinder but still good!
Scarlet isn't as fast paced as Cinder nor is Scarlet as adventurous (IMO) as Cinder but I did enjoy the new characters in Scarlet and enjoyed listening to the book. I agree more about Cinder, less about Scarlet would have been better but all in all it was a very good listen! Can't wait for book 3!!!
