About this listen

"An absolutely delightful treat to savor! Relatable, sexy, and beautiful."—Elena Armas, New York Times bestselling author of The Spanish Love Deception

Summer won't last forever.

Sage Byrd has lived in the coastal town of Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington) her entire life. She's learned to love her small world, with the misfit animals on her hobby farm, and her friendships with the town’s inhabitants. But when her 5-year relationship ends and her ex, town-golden-boy Ian, suddenly gets engaged, Sage needs a win—something that will convince everyone to stop pitying her all the time, and to put Ian in his place. The Festival of Spunes, the town’s annual summer competition, would be the perfect opportunity. She just needs a partner.

Fisher Lange was a hotshot chef in New York City until the loss of his sister left him numb, grieving, and responsible for his teenage niece Indy. When Fisher loses his Michelin star along with his love of cooking, his boss sends him and Indy to Spunes on a much-needed summer sabbatical to consult on a restaurant opening. But when clashes with the townspeople threaten his last chance to redeem himself and a kiss with his new neighbor Sage leads to dating rumors, a strategic alliance might just be the best way to turn things around.

A deal is struck. Sage will improve Fisher’s image in the eyes of the town and remove the roadblocks he is facing with the restaurant, and Fisher will be Sage’s partner for the competition. But as their pact quickly turns into steamy rendezvous, emotional wounds begin to heal, and the pair tries to savor every moment, they start to realize that summer is racing by much faster than they would like...

Filled with spicy summer fun, small-town charm, and Big Feelings, this highly anticipated romcom is Tarah DeWitt’s best yet.

"DeWitt’s sprightly narrative is by turns funny and red-hot, as Sage and Fisher, who share a love of puns, develop some serious chemistry... This is a charmer."—Publishers Weekly

Super sweet story. Great for a palette cleanser or if you love a slow burn. It was a bit spicier than I thought it would be too! Two characters dealing with grief and growing together. Realistic pain and love.

Zachary Webber and Karissa Vacker are incredible. Both nailed all the quirky side characters. Zach playing the teenager, Indie, was golden. Audiobook is definitely worth it if you’re trying to decide btw reading or listening.

Super sweet story- excellent narration

It was ok. I think it had potential it didn’t reach. The characters and setting were fun but the story lacked excitement. The love story had no ups and downs that keep your interest, just lots of very descriptive sex. The troubled teenagers’ story was never really developed. The ending was blah. I love anything narrated by Zachary Webber but this book put me to sleep several times before finishing.

Typical small town romance

A really enjoyable sweet and spicy read! Also had me in my emotions! I loved seeing Fisher and Indy, who have bad associations with small towns, find their people, and geese, in Spunes. Sage was incredible and I loved her and Fisher’s story!

So cute

I have devoured over 100 books this year, this is by far top 3 for me. Great character development and realistic angst. I’m a sucker for a wonderful small town. Gives Gilmore girls mixed with Abby Jimenez books vibes. 10/10 recommend

One of my top for 2024

I search for books narrated by Zachary and this one doesn’t disappoint!! Both narrators were amazing and this was such a great story. Listened to the whole thing in one day. First book by this author and will for sure be looking for more !

Such a good story

Small town setting was interesting in comparison to all the chef character had experienced and devotion to family was a big plus,
OK…not the most compelling story with all the teenage angst & therapy focus. But it represented caring & development of a relationship & putting family first even to the detriment of self.

Sweet story…didn’t think the F-bombs were necessary or added anything to the ambiance.

🎧 Narration: flawless. no notes. zachary webber was the perfect fisher. his delivery during the emotional moments in this story had me in a chokehold. & this was my first listen for karissa vacker but she was phenomenal!

i will simply never be over sage & fisher. these two have my whole heart. “love is this.” 🫠 when fisher & his niece come to town it all starts with chaos, police visits & a woman in a cow robe & somehow turns into the love & found family they didn’t realize they were missing. 🥹 the way fisher falls so hard & just really gave his all even with an end date 😭 they both loved so hard. fisher & indy were one of my favorite guardian relationships. they both grow with each other so much during the story. & indy at the end with the journal? 🥹 i just loved this book. “yes chef” 🤭 & “happiest when wet” were my favorite little moments. & the spice 😮‍💨 just right. five star.

I simply loved this story and the characters with my whole heart. It was like a warm hug that I just did not want to end.

Fisher and Sage are perfection. They end up as neighbours—Fisher with his niece and Sage with her plethora of animals on the farm and they couldn’t have been more perfect for each other.

The banter between the two was chef’s kiss and I simply cannot get over the puns or Sage’s punny clothes.

This was the most perfectly sweet, adorable and swoony love story with the best ending. Come on—Indy and the goose?!? 🥰
