About this listen
2019 Hudson Booksellers Best of the Year
2019 Kirkus Reviews Best Books of the Year
"Action packed and razor sharp - Jack Reacher would love Nikki Griffin." (Lee Child, number-one New York Times best-selling author of Past Tense)
S.A. Lelchuk’s Save Me from Dangerous Men marks the beginning of a gripping new series and the launch of a fabulous new character. Nikki Griffin is a kick-ass character who listeners will root for as she seeks to right the world's wrongs.
Nikki Griffin isn't your typical private investigator. In her office above her bookstore’s shelves and stacks, where she luxuriates in books and the comfort they provide, she also tracks certain men. Dangerous men. Men who have hurt the women they claim to love. And Nikki likes to teach those men a lesson, to teach them what it feels like to be hurt and helpless, so she can be sure that their victims are safe from them forever.
When a regular PI job tailing Karen, a tech company's disgruntled employee who might be selling secrets, turns ugly and Karen's life is threatened, Nikki has to break cover and intervene. Karen tells Nikki that there are people after her. Dangerous men. She says she'll tell Nikki what's really going on. But then something goes wrong, and suddenly, Nikki is no longer just solving a case - she's trying hard to stay alive.

Robert McCall is a former covert operations officer for the CIA who tries to atone for past sins by offering, free of charge, his services as a protector, an investigator, and a troubleshooter—often literally. Aided by a group of sometimes-mysterious contacts, some of whom date back to his spying days, McCall traverses the streets of New York City, visiting justice upon those who prey upon the weak. A woman finds herself the target of a Chechen nightclub owner. The club is actually a front for an elite assassination service—run by an old enemy of McCall’s.

Story
In a residential Washington, D.C., neighborhood, a young woman's body is found in the basement of an abandoned house - starved to death in a cage, along with the video footage of a dark and deadly ritual. The victim is identified as the daughter of a prominent D.C. politician, and it falls to the FBI to track down the unconscionable psychopath who murdered her. FBI special agent Sayer Altair would rather conduct research on criminality than catch actual criminals. But when she's offered a promotion hinging on her next assignment, she reluctantly accepts the "Cage Killer" case.

Gripping story, amazing narration
Really enjoyed this one. It was an exciting page-turner with fun characters (think Raymond Chandler for the digital age and the #metoo era). January LaVoy's narration was superb too. I couldn't put it down...finished it in two days!

Choices. We all have them.
And this was a choice I am ecstatic I made. Don’t pass this one up. One of the top 5 in my vast Audible library. Excellent narration, as always, by January LaVoy. My first book by this brilliant author, S.A. Lelchuk and hopefully not my last. Plots and subplots are deftly created and performed with perfection. Not a dull moment; surprises and twisty turns throughout. I can’t stress how much I enjoyed this audiobook. Well worth a treasured credit. Epic I say, EPIC! Very highly recommended. May I have more please? Soon?

This book hit all the feels for me. A witty sarcastic woman who knows how to defend herself / part vigilante and part best friend. This book made me want to know this woman Nikki and invite her over for drinks. The book moves so quickly, love that! But not so quickly that you can't keep up. Can't praise this book and narration enough - its one of my favs this year!

I don't know
An interesting story but the pacing is slow. Nikki spends too much time in her head second imagining every possible scenario that can happen. There's also too much attention to detail. At one point, she describes, in detail, a custodian emptying a trash can. Really? There are several other examples in which the story gets stuck. Overall, the plot was and so were the characters. If I get the next book, at least I'll know what to expect.
