About this listen

She had always done as she pleased - with nary a thought to the consequences.

Indeed, Sally Mallory's great success throughout the ton as a fine portrait painter had been aided by spirited independence - along with wit and extraordinary talent. But now it seemed she had gone too far.

Impetuous Sally had compromised her reputation, and now was to be forced into a marriage of convenience with the most distinguished art critic in London, the cold and arrogant Duke Ian Frobisher!

Ian was proud, unbending, quick to anger - and though Sally sensed the hurt beneath his disdain, she was desperate to escape a loveless union. Impulsively, she accepted the disreputable Sir Percy Badham's shocking proposal.

I found it a tad slow… but I may have been my mood. It lacked only some chemistry between our romantic interests. I never felt it.

If you could sum up Sally in three words, what would they be?

A Fun Read

Any additional comments?

This is a sweet kind of book where you know the ending at the beginning and all the characters play by the rules (except Percival, what a scandral). The problem is the clever author has put more obstacles in the way of true love then you would think are possible and part way thru it was clear these two wonderful people would never get together. It is so clever and plausible. So maybe they don't get together. Ms. Ferguson's voice is perfect for this tale. She has a British cadance if not exactly an accent and she becomes the heroine. I never before read this particular genre, Regency Romance I think, but I loved it from beginning to end and listened to much of it a second time to make sure I got it. Soothing, I think that's the world, soothing in this world that we are currently engaged in. I can't wait for another Leonora Blyth book on Audible.
