About this listen
Spring, 1916. Best friends Tulsa May Bruder and Luther Briggs are on a mission. After a very public jilting, everybody is looking at Tulsa May with such sad, sorrowful eyes. Can a pretend romance turn that pity into gossip? The plain preacher's daughter and the handsome heartthrob with the bad reputation. Would anyone even believe it? Convincing the town requires moonlit walks, stolen kisses, and a brassiere used as a fanbelt.
“Pure enjoyment, warm characters, wonderful situations.” (RT Magazine)

Agatha was the picture of primness and propriety, but her green eyes could blaze with anger - or sparkle with humor. Cadence "Cady" Bloomquist knows two things for sure: First, shelving books at her shop, Nevermore Bookstore, totally counts as cardio. Second, staying late every Thursday night to take a certain mysterious customer's order is not the same as waiting by the phone for some man. Until the calls with the man who identifies himself only as "Fox" last for hours, and become the highlight of her week. Which leaves her to wonder, if his velvet voice can kindle her fire over the phone, what sort of alchemy might it inspire if they met in person?

Loved It!
Another great story from Pamela Morsi. This is the sequel to Wild Oats and it was a delight to see Tulsa May and Luther get their happily ever after as well as revisit favorite characters from the first book in the series! As always the author creates lovable primary and secondary characters that you connect with through moments of true joy, humility, humor and compassion, Pamela if you see this: Can you bring “If Wishes Were Kisses” (Small Town Swains HR Series) to Audible? I can’t get enough of your historical romances and that compilation on Audible would be so fabulous!!

dreadful narration
This story is lovely. The narrator is miserable and read far, far too slowly and mispronounced words so regularly that it's impossible not to cringe.
