About this listen
The world did not end in a single night, it rotted from within. The infection spread like wildfire, consuming cities, collapsing governments, and bringing entire nations to their knees. The powerful fled. The desperate fought. The doomed prayed. But the undead were relentless, devouring everything in their path. From the fall of New York City to the last stand in London, from the Pope’s final sermon in the Vatican to billionaires seeking refuge in Switzerland’s most fortified bunkers, this is the story of how civilization crumbled, one country at a time. A brutal, unflinching account of global collapse, Rotting Earth takes you deep into the chaos, where soldiers fought hopeless battles, world leaders made impossible choices, and ordinary people faced horrors beyond imagination. The dead did not rest, and there was no one left to stop them.

Story
Bereft of basic necessities - clean water, food, healthcare, and the rule of law - this tale of resilience tests the limits of human tenacity against a backdrop of societal decay. Hanley, a retired physician with a foresight for preparation, helps lead his kin in a transformative quest, confronting a reality harsher than that faced by the pioneering forebears of the American West. Unlike their predecessors, they must learn lost self-sufficiency skills and forge new ones to adapt to a world devoid of technological crutches.

Story
October, 1982. Forced to move to the quiet seaside town of Tasker Bay by her mother, the only thing on high schooler Andi’s mind is saving up enough money to return to her old stomping grounds in Silicon Valley. Her self-taught skills with all things electronic make her a perfect fit for a job at the dingy local arcade. When Polybius—a new game of unknown origin arrives—the shop is suddenly overwhelmed with players fighting for time on the machine. Seemingly overnight, a virus-like epidemic grips Tasker Bay while a violent coastal storm rolls in, isolating it from the outside world.

Not Great
So with pretty much all the zombie books, movies, and tv shows you have to suspend some disbelief. Especially the perpetual motion type zombies of the walking dead. This book requires way too much belief and common sense suspension. For me a good zombie book has to sound plausible. Not just the zombies, I’m fine with magic when it comes to them, but actions of individual people and nations has to make sense.
