Amy came to Rosemary Cottage to grieve, to heal, maybe even find love. But there’s a deadly undertow of secrets around Hope Island.... The charming Rosemary Cottage on the beach offers Amy Lange respite she needs to mourn her brother, Ben. She’s even thinking of moving her midwife practice to the Outer Banks community. It’s always been a refuge for her and her family. She also wants to investigate Ben’s disappearance at sea. Everyone blames a surfing accident, but Amy has reason to wonder.
Coast Guard officer Curtis Ireland has lost a sibling, too. His sister, Gina, was run down by a boat, leaving him to raise her infant daughter. If anyone knew who little Raine’s father was, Curtis could lose his beloved niece. Yet he can’t help being drawn to Hope Beach’s new midwife, Amy. He even agrees to help her investigate what happened to both Ben and Gina. Can two grieving people with secrets find healing on beautiful Hope Island? Or will their quest for truth set them at odds with each other...and with those who will go to any length to keep hidden things hidden?

Amy comes home to Rosemary Cottage to grieve the loss of her brother Nick, who was lost in a surfing accident. His body was never recovered. So she can’t accept he’s dead and begins her own investigation.
In her quest to find the truth she meets Charlie, Coast Guard member and single father of six-month-old baby Raine. Raine’s mother, and Charlie’s sister, was killed in a boating accident shortly before. But who was Raine’s father? And, did these two accidents off Hope Island have anything to do with each other?
The characters are so vivid in this book, I wanted to jump into their conversations. In some conversations, I wanted to shake someone. In some I wanted to show a guest (?) the door! And when the action got going, I could feel the sea spray on my face and, at times found myself thinking, “Charlie, look out!” I was right there inside the story! Oh! And the ante really goes up when baby Raine is kidnapped with no ransom demand!
And, in true Coble style, the mystery isn’t solved until the very last twist and turn.
I won’t spoil it for you. But, I will promise you.... This book is worth a second read...and I’ll love it and the great narration by Devon O’Day all over again!
I highly recommend you read Rosemary Cottage!!!
