About this listen
Peter Gilbert, Duke of Sudworth, is a good man. He has inherited the title and the debt that his deceased brother and father created, having had to leave the home that he had set up away from his dysfunctional family. Facing bankruptcy, he has determined to keep the family home at whatever cost. Only those closest to him know that it is not for his own benefit.
Rosalind, is the eldest daughter of Mr Johnson, a 'cit', a man who has earned his fortune through business. He is determined that his four daughters will marry the highest titles in the country, whether they like it or not, and he is prepared to pay to achieve his goal.
Two people forced together because of circumstances that they did not create would be set for a shaky start at best. However with local gossip, illegitimate children and an alleged affair, things were never going to be quiet in the home of the Duke and Duchess of Sudworth.

Every so often a love story so captures our hearts that it becomes more than a story - it becomes an experience to remember forever. The Notebook is such a book. It is a celebration of how passion can be ageless and timeless, a tale that moves us to laughter and tears and makes us believe in true love all over again.... Lovely Story
When I heard the words, "The End", my instant reaction was, "oh no!" Such was my total involvement with this book that I just couldn't believe that the story had ended.
The storyline was cleverly plotted out and this beautiful tale was told. It was also skillfully narrated.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
NO
What was most disappointing about Audrey Harrison’s story?
Ending
Have you listened to any of Stevie Zimmerman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
She's great and her talent wasted on this one.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
I'd ask a friend first to see if it had a HAPPY ENDING..Then NO!!

Really Good and then...Disappointing
Is there anything you would change about this book?
This story started out so well and so sweet, I had high hopes that I had a new favorite author. Some 2/3rds of the way into the story, though, it just gets... frustratingly stupid. I wish Audrey Harrison had ended it before that.

Not a Civil Contract
When I began this book I almost just did not keep listening because it began almost plot point to plot point like my favorite of Georgette Heyer's books, a Civil Contract. This is story is an aristocrat marrying a Cit, exchanging his title for her fortune, a small wedding and the first time the married couple is able to converse about their marriage is in a carriage just after the wedding. Being fond of Georgette Heyer I was irritated by what I falsely assumed would be a pale retelling of an old tale.
I am glad I kept reading because the problems the young people face are their own and original to them. It is true in this book, the tension is increased by misunderstandings, but we humans see what we expect to see. The Bride expected to be snubbed by her husband's friends, and the Groom expected to find his new wife critical. So they believed what they expected to see, and heartache follows, to be warmly and tenderly repaired. Actually this book is quite historically accurate. The ending is truly a twist, and for these two people a happy one.

Engaging story and great narration
If you could sum up Rosalind: A Regency Romance in three words, what would they be?
Intriguing, romantic, well written
What other book might you compare Rosalind: A Regency Romance to and why?
Persuasion
Which scene was your favorite?
When the stars align and all the characters get just what they want - no spoilers here!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I really wanted to find out what came next throughout.
Any additional comments?
Rosalind is a genteel well written romance with lots to keep you guessing. Not as predictable as many period romances.
The narration brought all the characters to life. I think it would have been much less interesting to just read to myself.

Silly and depressing
I had high hopes for Audrey Harrison after listening to The Captains Wall Flower, but the last two stories have been complete let downs. This book started out well , but towards the middle became overly dramatic and soap operaesk ridiculous. This is not a light hearted humorous book. It is sad, dark, and with a hint of sexual assault. Things never go well for the couple in society. They are continually ridiculed, people are just mean spirited, and they possibly lose everything in the end. However, it is left unanswered, I'm sure so you will read the second book to find out. I would not recommend this book to a friend.
