About this listen

Music crowds every breath. But some songs lead to death.

The sea spits them onto a distant shore where there is more than meets the ears. Pergi and her companions rally in the swelter and danger of Elolle to fulfill their quest. They follow scant clues, straining to pick up any lingering traces that might lead them to the lost Stone Wangu. But the land that had once thrived under Lady Rhinna and the Music of her Far Stone now strays to strange tunes.

Chance seems to have thrown them in the path of a caravan and its helpful leader. As they trek with them across grasslands and desert, Pergi learns of a mysterious Key that may lead them to the disappeared Lady and Stone. But knowledge comes shrouded in riddles. Already blistering under an inscrutable prophecy, Pergi deplores more cryptic lore. She also fears that enemies lurk in the shadows or behind the smiles of false friends. Every step could be a trap and each new ally a menace.

Then shocking revelations rock the group.

Pergi’s mind clouds, and her heart wanders. The companions fracture just as their foe swoops in for the kill. Is the bond of their fledgling fellowship strong enough to save them, or must help come from a most unexpected source?

Hold on as Pergi’s adventure takes off in this second book of the Far Stone Cycle!

I enjoyed this story a lot. I admired the worldbuilding. I liked Pergi and her companions. I thought the use of music was creative, and I liked that there was some magic. I was surprised by some of the fantastical creatures. My attention was captured by all the twists and turns. I was a little disappointed that the story ended on a cliffhanger, and I am waiting for the next book with great eagerness. The dual narrations provided by Mellissa Hinrichs and Steven Hinrichs added to the entertainment of the story for me. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
