About this listen
Reunion Day
By
Lynn Carlyle
Two stories in one, Reunion Day chronicles the events in a small town when two class reunions are scheduled for the same evening. Although the two classes graduated 10 years apart, each has a drama unfolding.
For one set of graduates, they are asked to visit one of their retired teachers who has by chance discovered that they were involved in some cheating on a pivotal test.
For one, it is especially critical, as he has been mentoring her as she finalizes the work on her PhD. Now the two women are offered an option: he can notify their graduate schools that their records were somewhat tainted, or they can experience the kind of hot and stinging justice that would have been delivered to them in the school hallway had their duplicity been detected
when it took place.
In our other story, a woman reveals to the fellow she stood up for a date that she has a lot of unresolved feelings. As they sit at his home that evening, it becomes clear that they both have a lot of unfinished business that involves the fact that they still care for each other very much.
But in the course of their conversation, it is revealed how he would have liked to have dealt with her the day after the dance. And she decides that even though it would be decades late, it is still a penalty she must pay.
