About this listen
The thrilling sequel to As You Wish and Illuminate the Shadows.
Pulled into a world of secrets and lies for the man he loves, Declan Ramsay's life has changed immeasurably in the eight months since meeting, and falling for his boss's son, Sam Aiken. Declan journey of personal discovery is about to take a darker turn, and for Sam, the world becomes more treacherous than he could ever have imagined.
Two agents are missing - presumed dead, while on a reconnaissance mission at an outdoor adventure centre in the Scottish Highlands. Sir James Aiken sends his son and Declan to follow the trail, and discover the fate of the agents.
As the mission offers his first chance to use the skills he learned on the MI6 training course in Morocco, Declan is keen to get started. However, Sir James sees to it that the seeds of doubt and discord have been sewn between the couple as they begin their mission.
The journey to their Highland location, and the discoveries they make when they reach the G'wan Adventures center, prove that Sir James Aiken has been less than honest with his son. Events in the Highlands force Sam and Declan to face their greatest fears, and understand what they both really want from life - and from each other.

I have to stop replaying the one night I spent with my rival. Trouble is, that white-hot encounter with the other quarterback answered a lot of questions I’ve had about myself, but it also led me into this mess where he hates me. Story
Like all Necromancers, Cassius Corbin grew up knowing one irrevocable truth: death comes for us all. It was a lesson he learned well when his mother was murdered by fellow witches. Six years later, he is back in the town of Winslow, Massachusetts, to attend Tennebrose University. But that's not the only reason. While he's home, he intends to track down a magical folio stolen from his family centuries ago. Once he finds it, he'll finally be everything the witches in Winslow fear and the Corbin name will be respected once again—as long as Graeme Hewitt stays out of his way.

Story
Ari had a game plan for life: shoot people. Get money. Hang out with fellow criminal friends. He saw absolutely no reason to change that plan until one dark night in Memphis, when a little girl reached out to him with pocket change and a desperate plea for him to help her. Adopting an abused little girl off the streets was, needless to say, not part of the plan. Ari had no idea what he was doing with an eight year old. He especially didn’t know how to juggle taking contracts and raising a little girl.

Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. Sure, my life isn’t going exactly according to plan - I have a degree that led nowhere, a crappy job as a closing-shift barista, and an ex who has everything I want and got it by dumping myself - but that doesn’t mean I’m willing to give up on living yet! And, holy crap, when I’m plucked off the sidewalk of my rural Colorado town on the very night of my ex’s wedding, I’m pretty damn sure I’m about to lose my life and a whole lot more. If you’ve never tried flying, I do not recommend the first time be when you’re drunk and alone at two in the morning.

Story
My path to success never included an enemy as a teammate, especially one as infuriating as Quinton de Haas. Clawing under my skin is his favorite pastime, only feeding the animosity between us as the years pass. We’re as completely opposite as two people can be; the golden boy and the black sheep. Constantly at odds or at each other’s throats. The only thing we can agree on is hockey is our true love, and we’ll do whatever it takes to come out on top. I never imagined that drive would lead me to do the unthinkable: falling into bed with my not-so-straight rival.

So much better than book 1 or 2
Have to admit I was shocked in the difference in the writing of this book and book 1 and 2. There was no time gaps and from the beginning to the end you was on a trip of your life and you was able to see the feelings Declan and Sam grow thru good times and bad.
The storyline seem more at ease and not rushed as if you was part of the story not a person just listening to the story. Again the narrator was splendid and his ability to carry and bring each ever character alive and never miss the right type or expression of these characters. By the end you felt you knew the characters so much better and you was part of their lives.

Another excellent story by Isobel Starling. This one has everything I've come to expect from this author, with more suspense than the first two. This only makes book 3 more exciting!

Be Careful What You Wish For
Was so anxious to start this book after finishing book 2. Again I want to note the superiority of the author an the narrator. This book was action packed and the pace of the story seemed to be at full throttle. There were more accents in this story for Gary to do and he was masterful with them all. As mentioned by other reviewers this book was a lot darker. Declan has been highly successful in his MI6 training and he is itching to get to work. If he knew what was coming he would not have been so anxious. There was a lot more angst in this story between Sam and Declan. They love each other and are committed but they are fighting with each other for the first time. They are struggling to keep on solid ground in their relationship because of all the secrets that surround them. Oh and then there is the Big Bad just around the corner that is threatening to kill Sam. This book had nail biting moments but with a highly satisfying end that sets up the next story. On to book 4.... Highly recommend this series!

5 Amazing Stars-Suspense & Incredible Narration!
Oh my goodness… *sigh* and *swoon*
Well, I was hoping for some more action and suspense and I definitely got it here in Return to Zero. This story sees Declan learning more about A.L.L.’s inner workings, and eventually he and Sam get to work together on a mission. Before that comes up, we get more background into the agency as well as more about Sam before he met Declan. Most of the first half of the book moves at a relatively sedate pace (or at least what I would consider sedate), and it’s from the midpoint on that things really grab your attention an have you hanging on for the ride.
Sam and Declan are becoming one of my favorite series couples, and up until now everything has been wonderful between them. There’s a bit of drama thanks to Sam’s father (no surprise there, right?) that does come up here, and we get to see how both men react and still come out strong together in the end. But the real suspense and action comes from an old nemesis from Sam’s past who’s back in the picture-against all odds it seems. And any character that causes Sam to scare…well you know what comes next is going to be good.
The tension and drama really ramps up in the second half of the story, and I found myself staying up into the wee hours of the morning to finish this as I just could not put it down without reading the end. There’s so much excitement, and the intensity of the emotions Sam and Declan go through are stunning. The way those final scenes between them are written totally envelop the reader and I found myself simply mesmerized by the exchange of words as they make the true depth of their feelings known. You can’t help but be moved by it, and I felt like my heart would just explode with the power of Sam and Declan’s love and devotion.
And after that ending to the epilogue…PLEASE tell me the next book is ready to go because I’m here absolutely frantic for more.
With a slower start than the prequel and first story but an utterly more powerful finish, Return to Zero was a 4.5-star read for me, and I highly recommend this story and series to M/M romantic suspense fans. This is for readers 18+ due to adult language and explicit M/M sexual content (which by the way is getting more interesting as the series goes on). I can’t wait for Sam and Declan’s next adventure, this series really has me hooked!
The narration: I swear, I could listen to Gary Furlong all day every day and never grow tired of hearing him narrate. He continues to be consistent in voicing the characters of this series, and as with the other books of the series he kept the pacing perfect and the voices—regardless of accent—easy to understand and unique to each character. The narration completely pulled me into the story, making me feel like I was right there with the characters. Another outstanding 5-star narration!

Thank you for the audio
Thank you for the audio, I voluntarily give this an honest review. Gary Furlong did a great job narrating this series. this book was packed with action, Declan is willing to do anything for the man he has fallen for, even go against the one man that stands in their way Sam's father. but when trickery and deceit is one man's plan what happens when the one you love is hurt. this was another great book.

I LOVE this series!
I love this series, and this book/audiobook is the best one yet. Sam and Declan continue to grow together. Their sexual relationship continues to be hot and steamy, but there is so much more to these books. There is a real story as well. There is mystery, adventure, drama, and danger. It was great to see Sam and Declan work as a team, fitting together like the interlocking pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. I also loved seeing the vulnerable side of Sam, his fears and frailty, and seeing him rely and depend on Declan, who - as always - stepped up heroically. In spite of the drama, the book doesn't sink into some dark thriller. It retains its character as a true and honest love story. The ending was beautiful, and I can't wait for more of Sam and Declan's story.
Narrator Gary Furlong is a master, and I was so glad to have someone who could so effortlessly pronounce all the names of the places that provide the setting for the book. His deliver truly adds to the pleasure and enjoyment of this audiobook.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this audiobook by the author. This is my honest, voluntary review. This is definitely one audiobook I will listen to again and again.

Keeps You on the Edge of Your Seat
Declan Ramey’s life has changed dramatically since falling in love with his boss’s son Samuel Aiken. Now the two are being sent on a mission. Two agents are missing, presumed dead. Sam and Declan are to ascertain what happened and complete the reconnaissance of G’wan Adventure centre in the Scottish Highlands. But Sir James makes it hard on them as he once again sows discord between the two and leaves a few interesting and vital facts out of his briefing. It does not take long before the two are in a fight for their lives. They soon realize they would do anything to for each other. But first they have to survive.
Return to Zero will have you on the edge of your seat. You will not be able to believe what is happening. Betrayal and danger become the name of the game as these two fight for their lives and their relationship. Sir James once again has left out a few facts and the are paying the price. Fortunately, Sam and Declan are resourceful and hope that fact will keep them alive. This series is excellent. Neither Sam nor Declan are perfect which is what makes the series even more perfect.
Gary Furlong once again does an excellent job of bringing these two to life. You feel as if you are there based on the realism of his reading. He is one narrator I shall be looking for as he is fast becoming one of my favorites.

Three for Three
I received this recording as a courtesy for review.
This installment of the Shatterproof Bonds series continued where book 2 left off. Declan and Sam are awaiting their first assignment together but as usual secrets, surprises, danger keep the pair in their toes.
I appreciated the authors continued attention to developing the dramatic storyline while not sacrificing the relationship of the characters. The sex scenes at times felt a little stuck in unrealistic settings but intimate and hearfelt. By the end of the book I would have liked to have seen more growth in Declan's character. But overall it was an engaging story.
The narrator does a good job with pacing and using different accents to keep the characters identifiable. But I have to admit the voice used for the American agents was almost off-putting.
I look forward to the final installment.
