About this listen

They were from opposite sides of the tracks: the wealthy Nortons and the working-class Michaels. Yet Gray Norton and Charlie Michaels had become the unlikeliest of best friends, thick as thieves and utterly inseparable. Consumed with guilt after Charlie's untimely death, Gray fled his hometown to work as a doctor in a war zone. But Charlie's demise isn't the only thing that haunts Gray.

For years, Gray and Romey, Charlie's sister, had been lovers - and Charlie never knew. Now a single mom, Romey has moved on from her painful relationship with Gray to work on her business, The Crusty Petal bakery. But when Gray returns to reconnect with the family he left behind - and the girl whose heart he broke - Romey's world comes apart.

Romey has no intention of giving Gray the time of day, much less one of her famous pies. But can she resist the plan he has set in motion to make amends and win her back? Both have secrets and painful memories they've been harboring for years - but the past always has a way of catching up.

Return to Sweetheart Lake is a beautifully told story and has spots of humor and guilt. Love and forgiveness is the theme, forgive yourself and the people of the past. If this is the author first book then I want her to know that she hit it out the park.

Wonderful

On audible, I had to filter and filter for a long time before this GEM popped up. I was so thrilled when I read the summary. I grabbed me and held on til the end. Ms. Jordan has a new fan! I am going to find more by this author. This book has sweetness, lust, pie, circus, and some sadness. I would have liked to seen into their future, hopefully Callum will have a book.
I need more like this from audible.

My type of Book!

I absolutely loved this story. Gray and Romey are an interatrial couple dealing with problems that go with a small town. What I like about this book is it was not heavy into the race issues, but trust and dysfunctional family issues. Which is what a lot of new couples deal with. I like how the author told the story that rang true, since I am in an interatrial marriage I was able to identify with the family dynamics. Romey mother, reminded me of one my family members because "Yikes" I need a pill to deal with her. I hope this is not the only book Evelyn Jordan writes, I really enjoyed her writing.

I JUST CANT GET ENOUGH!!!! 🙌❤🙌

this was a very good romance book. loved it from beginning to the end.

beautiful romance

The storyline was decent & seemingly probable when I read the outline, but that notion was quickly shattered by the Romy the female main character who was so unlikable & terrible in almost every interaction with someone she supposedly loves. I don't know how this book made it to print, I feel duped. Stereo types & reverse racism galore! I am an African American woman that has been happily married to my White husband for 20+years. Also the estranged mother's past job as circus performer was ridiculous. The Narrators were good, especially Will Damron, I don't know how they could stand it though. Save yourself from inevitable disappointment!

Huge Disappointment!
