Story
My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails. Then Selene showed up. According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy ten-pound cat with a broken filter. She fancies herself something of a saber-toothed tiger, and claims to have wrestled the thread of her ninth life from the hands of the Fates themselves—although, I'm pretty sure that last part isn't true. Almost positive.

I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Intriguing
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review. This was a very intriguing book, political and romance combined. The "shadow" government is very thought provoking. Love this author, would definitely want more from this author and genre.

Just OK "thriller"
I couldn't tell if this was a romantic suspense, conspiracy theory mystery, or supernatural mystery. There were too many things going on at one time and it felt rushed especially the relationship between Emily and Ash. If the author had given about 1/4 more details it could have been a really great book. As it stands it reads like a jumbled rushed mess. The narrator at times sounded like she was voicing characters through clenched teeth and that made it hard tell which character was speaking. This wasn't a bad book or narration it just wasn't great either. I received this book for free for an honest review

Intrigue of our political system
This story asks a lot of questions about our political system. The murder of a politician's aid. Only they don't know she has a twin. A harden cop looking for justice for the young woman. It's about a foreign power deepening it hold on our political system so they can control our policies and implode our democracy. This story is not hard to believe looking at the corruption and policies that are being attempted in our political system. There is a love story between Ashton and Emily as they delve into solving her sister's murder. This story has lots of twists and intrigue keeping you riveted.

Great book
Narrator Kristen James does an excellent job bringing Casi McLeans Reign of Fire to life.
Set in Washington DC it is Political intrigue with a shadow government, Romance, Mystery and Suspense. I don’t normally like books in a political setting but I loved this one.

Reign Of Fire
This was one of those books I just couldn’t put down. The political intrigue, not knowing who to trust, loss, a bit of paranormal and a little romance, this story has it all. There is a conclusion, for those that don’t like cliffhangers, but there is also a great setup for more books to come. I can’t wait too see where Casi McLean takes this!
I thought Kristin James did a great job with the narration and I hope to hear more from her soon.

Something different from Casi and I liked
This was something new and different for me from Casi. I like it. I was caught up in the intrigue of it all. The things that could get you killed whether you seen something, heard something, or heck. . . they just didn't know what you may have or have not. This was a good listen from the beginning with one sister. All the way to the end with the other sister.
Now, as for the audio quality was a bit shaky at first. It had a bit of a echo quality at the beginning. Things straightened up before the end. I did enjoy Kristin James. She gave an extra layer of realism to our characters. I am excited to see the next installment in the Deep State Mysteries.

A good story
Definitely want to read the next one. Alyssa certainly had a big job ahead of her. Her sister is killed & they have to figure out who did it. She has a lot of help but the best help was the German Shepherd. A well written mystery with a bit more romacey stuff than I like but a great story anyway!

This book has everything....
As always, I have to state that this book was given to me for free in exchange for a review.
I always like to state that this does not impact my review or my opinion of the book. My reviews are honest and my own opinion of the story, performance, and overall thoughts on the book.
When I say that this book has everything, I literally mean everything...
Romance, Thriller, Paranormal, and amazing character development and storylines.
Murder, shadow government conspiracies, ghosts, and blossoming romance intertwine for an awesome read. Highly recommend if you like your books with a paranormal aspect.
