About this listen

Each and every animal on earth has as much right to live as you and me. It is unacceptable to say that all human attempts to bring the captive closer to the wild have not been successful. However, it is unethical to redefine a species’ life as desired by humans or to satisfy human needs. Even a human offender is not allowed to spend his entire life in prison, so how can we do that to an innocent creature that never committed any harm according to its own ethics or righteousness? Those who argue that we keep them happy in captivity should think about what the same happened to them. Are they ready to give up their liberty and freedom merely for human-defined “animal happiness” or merely for the incentives given in captivity? After stretching my curiosity to an extent in search of an alternative for wild and free, I conclude that animals should be released back to the wild, whether they like it or not, or, despite their willingness to be with humans, they should be released free, at least in the later part of their life cycle. Ex-situ Catch, Keep, and Release (CKR) has given animals a second and final chance to experience real freedom in the wild or in their habitat where they truly belong. It gives them a final opportunity to meet their family, friends, and even their natural enemies, without the feeling that “I am being watched” or that “I am a part of the human agenda.” In addition, ex-situ CKR also provides plausible solutions to environmental issues that affect the harmony of both humans and animals; in other words, fixing the broken bonds of nature. For instance, human-animal conflicts can be mitigated in this way; biodiversity can be saved from extinction due to disease, pollution, impacts of climate change, irresponsible tourism, war, eutrophication, ocean acidification, acid rain, air pollution, water pollution, land degradation, oil spills, and hazardous waste. Ex-situ CKR also provides assistance to save animals during the natural disasters. Compassionate conservation argues against inhumane conservation efforts or efforts that are more excessive than what needs to be done, such as culling, in order to maintain biodiversity. Biodiversity is incredibly important. Nevertheless, compassionate conservation promotes morality and ethics more than the existing mainstream conservation practices. Ironically, it is also known for homogenisation and biases in favour of charismatic species. However, to establish a regenerative or super-sustainable ecosystem, compassionate conservation provides a backbone that is encouraged by animal-loving communities worldwide.
