But the people have continued to put their faith in the Mayor, a dazzling fellow with golden hair and brilliant white teeth who promises that he alone can solve their problems.

This book is brilliant!
I absolutely loved this story and the way the narrator brought it to life. I fell in love with the characters, the setting, and Lindsay Eagar's beautiful prose. Anyone who loves PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, candy, the ocean, and clever, brave heroines will love this book.
