About this listen
Eighteen-year-old Ram Mohammad Thomas has been arrested after answering twelve questions correctly on a TV quiz show to win one billion rupees. The producers have accused him of cheating his way to victory. Twelve extraordinary events in street-kid Ram's life - how he was adopted as a foundling orphan by a priest; came to have three names; fooled a professional hit man; even fell in love - give him the crucial answers.
In his warm-hearted tale lies all the comedy, tragedy, joy and pathos of modern India.

No wonder it's a classic
A great story with great narration, enjoyed it alot, I especially loved the ending, I got the book because I heard my friends talk about the movie, I didn't watch the movie myself but I'd bet the book is way better...

Wonderful narration
I never really understood the story behind the movie. It never appealed to me until I came across this tremendous sale. Now it is one of my top listens. Christopher Simpson made the book come to life. I could listen to him read any book. His accent was exactly what I thought it should sound like. The story is an amazing story of a life in India as a young orphan grows up.

Cry and laugh
Christopher Simpson does a super job of narrating the simultaneously sad and happy plight of an illiterate Indian.

just, marvellous
I loved everything about the book, from the beginning till the end. And the fact that the narrator had an Indian accent, made the whole listening-experinece more real!

Got 2 part 2s
As with the first reviewer this book downloaded in 2 parts, however part 1 & part 2 were identical.
Frustrating & deeply annoying as I got most of the way through reading before I realised I was reading only the 2nd half of the book.
Double check when you download that you get 2 different parts. Mine were labelled "part one" & "part two", but were both the same.
The movie was spectacular & was the reason for my choice of this book.

Loved this story, and recommend it strongly
Would you consider the audio edition of Q & A (filmed as Slumdog Millionaire) to be better than the print version?
Sorry, cannot comment.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This question doesn't really have relevance for this book, because it is only about one main character.
What about Christopher Simpson’s performance did you like?
Great. I loved it for the unpretentiousness of the voice. Realistic to the person he was depicting. And good range of accents between characters, so we could identify who was speaking in a dialogue.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Laugh yes, many times. Many great quotes and one liners. Like
Any additional comments?
This was the best of the audiobooks I have listened to. The author has a wonderful sense of storytelling and found a great format for telling 12 really fantastic stories, then did beautiful work weaving them together. Thank you, sir, for the enjoyment I had listening to these stories of Indian life (even if a few might be a little fabricated).

Audiobooks at its best
I've never seen the movie, so the sory was new to me. And it's an engaging story. There is so much going on that you actually want to keep listening in your car after you have arrived on your destination. Masterfully narrated too.

superb story
This story gives an interesting picture of modern India with it's poverty and corruption. But above all it it a triumph of the human spirit.

Very enjoyable
I found this book hard to put down and finished the whole 10 hours (?) in less than a week. I love how it tells the story of his life out of order so you have to keep thinking back to figure out the order of events.
Be aware that it's pretty gritty (for me, anyway). Also note that the plot line is completely different than the movie. I hadn't seen the movie so that didn't bother me. I did read a synopsis of the movie plot after I finished this book and I don't think the movie sound nearly as good.
