About this listen
I sense...murder!
My name is Carrie Dowd, and I know how the deed is done, the circumstances surrounding the person's disappearance, and the turmoil the victim endured. But who did it always evaded me, even after a missing girl's mother reached out for help.
How am I going to assist a mourning family if I cannot truly reveal what my psychic mind saw?

Rose Baker seals men’s fates. With a few strokes of the keys that sit before her, she can send a person away for life in prison. A typist in a New York City Police Department precinct, Rose is like a high priestess. Confessions are her job. It is 1923, and while she may hear every detail about shootings, knifings, and murders, as soon as she leaves the interrogation room she is once again the weaker sex, best suited for filing and making coffee. This is a new era for women, and New York is a confusing place for Rose. Gone are the Victorian standards of what is acceptable. All around her women bob their hair, they smoke, they go to speakeasies.

I loved the concept of this book and was immediately drawn to Carrie....She is a sensitive artist type who has a gift...she can read peoples emotions and feel what they feel..and is a psychic....she helps find missing murder victims for bereaved people...she is in the middle of a messy divorce and has a new love interest that she is struggling with...but unbeknownst to her she is in grave danger from someone who is close to her....great story and mystery....and I will definitely continue this series!! hard listen
This is hard to read with exact proper english. It takes away from the story and feels like there is no emotion. It would be ok if it were only the main character but it is every character. It reads like a term paper with no contractions and terms only high society would use. I wanted to like it and if you can get past this matter then it would be a pretty good book. Very hard listen!

PSYCHIC PERCEPTIONS
Author: Candy O'Donnell
Type of Book: Audiobook - Unabridged
Narrator: Lori Fairlla
Length: 4 hours, 54 minutes
Genre: Paranormal Fiction, Thriller
Release Date: May 11, 2015

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐
* I received a free copy of this audiobook through AudiobookBlast in exchange for an honest review.
Carrie Dowd is a psychic. She can look at a picture of a missing person and know if that person is alive or dead. Sounds great right?
Not so much! Carrie also experiences and feels everything that the person felt while being murdered.
As if that was not enough strain, she is also going through a nasty divorce.
When the mother of a missing teenage girl pleads for her help, Carrie is determined to try. But, will she be able to determine who killed her? Or will her messy personal life cause her psychic gift to go astray?
The storyline of this audiobook is excellent, however the dialogue was horrendous. Almost every time the characters spoke they didn't sound real. They did not speak the way real people do. For example, when talking to her best friend she is extraordinarily formal. No one speaks that formally unless they are addressing the Queen of England. There was never use of "it's" instead "it is" was always used. No one talks like that!
Despite the stilted dialogue the story was good. I was genuinely interested in the plot and there were a few surprises which I like.
The narrator did a terrific job on this audiobook. It must have been difficult to try to make the characters seem real when they talked so strangely.
If it were not for the dialogue, this book would have received a 4 star review from me. As it is now I rate it as 3 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐

Lori Faiella did an Excellent Job with the Audio
PSYCHIC PERCEPTION was a good start to a series. The listener was able to get a good characterization idea of the protagonist whose a likeable, sweet person. Carrie is a psychic but it seems that other things keep getting in her way blocking her energy. Namely, her ex-husband Steve. And whoever is stalking her.
I felt the story was a little busy and took a few different directions, it was still a great first book. While listening to it, the time escaped me so I was definitely engaged. The story had some good twists which I liked that I didn't see coming. Overall, I feel that CANDY O'DONNELL is on the right track with the story and it had a nice ending. I can see this continuing and getting better.
LORI FAIELLA does a fantastic job narrating this audiobook. I've listened to her before and love her voice. I think she read the characters just fine. I always knew who was speaking and her voice fit Carrie perfectly. I think she was an asset to the story.
