About this listen
Five years have passed since we destroyed Kildare. In the years since, the Urthmen threat has diminished, almost to the point of being bearable. I began to feel safe for the first time in my life, that my sister is safe, that mankind has a chance to advance, that a future exists. But I've learned that on this planet, nothing lasts, especially peace. And with the toll of a bell everything changes....
Avery and her friends are faced with a new enemy more lethal than anything they've ever encountered, danger so deadly it threatens to destroy everything they've worked for and everyone they love. Will humankind be doomed to extinction once and for all? Find out in this heart-pumping final installment of the Planet Urth series.

It was really hard to get into this book as I was delving in on the last of the series, but once I did, I was really pissed I did not start at the beginning. This book has everything you would want in a sci-fi, adventure, romance, dystopian and opera kind of book. I am so glad to have finished it. Now to read the rest of the series.
It was good to find out some history that no one knew and then the play on it though out the book. Nice twist to culminate the series.
Gave it a 4.5, but will probably change it after I read the rest.

The Fate of Urth
Any additional comments?
Entertaining , suspenseful and full of action.
This is the first book in the series I have listened to. I didn't realize this was the last in the series when I started it. It took me a bit to figure out who all the characters were. I really wish I had started at the beginning, although I still didn't have any problem following the story it would have just made it that much more enjoyable.
The human survivors discover a new enemy the Ugana(?) and their survival is once again threatened. An enemy they unknowingly created themselves. Now in order to fight this new enemy they must trust an old enemy. Through their journey they discover from the Urthmen that there are two sides to every story. Can they overcome their prejudices to defeat a common enemy.
Tricia DiSandro did a good job with the narration. Good character voices. She has a nice voice that is easy on the ears. For the action scenes her narration was great, but her narration on this book is to over dramatic most of the time. I could only listen in small doses. When your putting emphasis on every single word all the scenes tend to run together. While still an enjoyable listen, I have listened to other books she has narrated that I liked more.

Not very memorable.
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBoom dot com.
I did not read the other books in the series. The author gave enough background information that I didn't feel lost. The story wasn't really memorable but it wasn't boring either. I give the story 3/5 and the narrator 3.5/5. Spoilers ahead!
I have a hard time seeing Avery as a leader. She strikes me as impulsive and doesn't think things through. When an urthman is pushed into the rapid river with potential man-eating snakes, she jumps in after him. A good leader can't sacrifice herself for a member of the enemy. The men don't seem to have much respect for her either. The way Rom disregards her shows they don't fear her or respect her, outside of her close friends. When she arrives back at the gates, she has to repeatedly command the guards since they're skeptical of her.
The entire novel felt rushed. Rom was a good example of this. When Rom was exiled, I felt we would see him again, bitter and angry, towards the end of the book. However, he appeared again in the very next chapter. Another example is the meeting with Duval. I expected a chapter devoted to travelling to his city (perhaps where we meet Rom again?), then another chapter devoted to negotiations. However, the entire day's travel was uneventfully cut into just a few minutes and the climatic meet was just a few sentences long. The climax and final fight was also very short. there's no way the entire war was won in one chapter at one battle.
I felt the author exaggerated a lot throughout the books. One example is how Avery, Sully, and the handful of others who went to see Duval complained multiple times about how the trip was a waste of time. I mean, what could 3-4 people have done that would have made a significant difference to prepare for the battle when thousands of humans are already preparing? I'm also skeptical of the sheer numbers of enemies. We frequently hear "tens of thousands" of beasts rampaging through the city, but it felt more like 100. I'm also surprised the humans didn't know of the beasts until after the attack. I mean, it must have taken years to prepare, and they constantly send scouts everywhere. The beasts weren't exactly quiet, either.
A few notes about the narrator. She spoke pretty softly when not speaking in character, but used a more normal enthusiastic voice when in character. I felt she did have a few issues with the male voices, especially early on.
