About this listen

In the third Friarsgate Inheritance novel, New York Times best-selling author Bertrice Small takes us back to the sensuality, drama, and intrigue of King Henry's 16th-century court to tell the story of the daughter of one of her most beloved characters.

The eldest child of Rosamund Bolton and heiress to the Friarsgate manor, Philippa Meredith is devastated when she discovers that the man she sought to marry has rebuffed her. But it is this sudden change of fortune that sweeps the spirited beauty back to her place in the court of Queen Katherine of Aragon - and into the arms of Crispin St. Clair, the Earl of Witton. But when Philippa stumbles onto a plot to assassinate King Henry VIII, their very love is tested as they attempt to unmask those who are plotting to tear the royal court asunder.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The heroine was a little too spunky & immature at times but the other characters seemed to ring true to reality to me. So, nice storyline.

Loved It!

This book is my least favorite in this series but not an unworthy listen. I really did not and still do not care for the heroine in this story. If Ms. Small intended for the reader to be irritated by her, she succeeded. She was spoiled, unnecessarily pompous and just irritating. I was hoping Crispin (H) would just move on. She was slightly less irritating by the end but only slightly.
The secondary characters were good enough to make he story interesting and will keep the listener from giving up on this one. Tom, Lord Cambridge is again featured in this story and brings the same wit and flamboyance to this one.

I think you could take or leave this one. The historical events are interesting and added depth to the story. I am not convinced this one is credit worthy.

The narrator had a high pitched whine that was not very pleasant on the ears but after a while I did adjust to it (listened on 1.3 speed)

I really do not like Philippa

Love the story line. At first you wonder Tod you’re listening to a privileged girl whine about a land gift she’s offered, then you realize that it’s really about being true to yourself and knowing you shouldn’t take a gift that you couldn’t do justice. Great ending was surprising.

Great Read

It is hard to listen to because there is distinction between characters. I could hardly get through

Performance was horrible
