About this listen
This program is read by the author.
The inspiring, influential senator and best-selling author mixes vivid personal stories with a passionate plea for political transformation.
Elizabeth Warren is a beacon for everyone who believes that real change can improve the lives of all Americans. Committed, fearless, and famously persistent, she brings her best game to every battle she wages.
In Persist, Warren writes about six perspectives that have influenced her life and advocacy. She’s a mother who learned from wrenching personal experience why child care is so essential. She’s a teacher who has known since grade school the value of a good and affordable education. She’s a planner who understands that every complex problem requires a comprehensive response. She’s a fighter who discovered the hard way that nobody gives up power willingly. She’s a learner who thinks, listens, and works to fight racism in America. And she’s a woman who has proven over and over that women are just as capable as men.
Candid and compelling, Persist is both a deeply personal audiobook and a powerful call to action. Elizabeth Warren - one of our nation’s most visionary leaders - will inspire everyone to believe that if we’re willing to fight for it, profound change is well within our reach.

As a child in small-town Oklahoma, Elizabeth Warren yearned to go to college and then become an elementary school teacher - an ambitious goal, given her family’s modest means. Early marriage and motherhood seemed to put even that dream out of reach, but 15 years later she was a distinguished law professor with a deep understanding of why people go bankrupt. Then came the phone call that changed her life: could she come to Washington, DC, to help advise Congress on rewriting the bankruptcy laws?

In this revolutionary exposé, Harvard Law School bankruptcy expert Elizabeth Warren and financial consultant Amelia Tyagi show that today's middle-class parents are increasingly trapped by financial meltdowns. Astonishingly, sending mothers to work has made families more vulnerable to financial disaster than ever before. Today's two-income family earns 75% more money than its single-income counterpart of a generation ago, but has 25% less discretionary income to cover living costs.

Story
When Bernie Sanders began his race for the presidency, it was considered by the political establishment and the media to be a "fringe" campaign, something not to be taken seriously. After all, he was just an independent senator from a small state with little name recognition. His campaign had no money, no political organization, and it was taking on the entire Democratic Party establishment. By the time Sanders' campaign came to a close, however, it was clear that the pundits had gotten it wrong.

Story
On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump incited a violent mob to storm the US Capitol in attempts to overturn the presidential election. It was a betrayal of our Constitution, and one of the darkest days in recent history. Yet to former congressman Adam Kinzinger it was also the culmination of a cultural and political rupture he’d long seen coming. Constructive criticism from within the Republican Party was no longer enough. It was time to stand up, even if it meant betraying his own party.

Now, in The Audacity of Hope, Senator Obama calls for a different brand of politics: a politics for those weary of bitter partisanship and alienated by the "endless clash of armies" we see in Congress and on the campaign trail; a politics rooted in the faith, inclusiveness, and nobility of spirit at the heart of "our improbable experiment in democracy".

Today’s Republican party is not a “normal” political party in the American tradition. It has become an autocratic movement masquerading as a political party. Loved her personal stories. She used them very well to illustrate her missions & her plans on how to complete these new missions. This book opened my eyes on the politics involved in the running of the government. She's a good narrator.

Fight the good fight!
I have always liked Elizabeth Warren, and now I know her a little better. Now I really LIKE and admire Elizabeth Warren! Yes, I wanted Elizabeth to get the Democratic nomination, sorry Bernie, cause you are great too! But I was one of those folks who could adjust to someone, anyone, who would beat trump. This country was in deep trouble. I have full confidence that Elizabeth Warren will serve this country well in the Senate. The future is coming, and women will take their rightful place in leadership, and I have confidence that Elizabeth Warren will be right up there with the best and brightest. Persist!

The heart and soul of our nation
This book I did not expect at this moment.
It is so poignant and powerful.
I laughed so hard at time I completely burst and sometimes I cried as I entered worlds I had never seen.
It is both strategic, tactical, analytical and even synthetic. Elizabeth Warren is a very brilliant successor to the Whiz Kids of the Kennedy administration. This book helped me a great deal both within and without.
Thank you Senator Warren for the sunshine that you have warmed my life with.

Elizabeth Warren’s case for the Presidency
In Persist, Elizabeth Warren lays out her story, her beliefs, her priorities and, most importantly, her plans for making this country a better place to live for most Americans. I think we missed our opportunity to have a leader who truly understands where we have gone wrong and how it must be set right, and who has the courage to persist. Thank you Elizabeth Warren for working on our behalf and inspiring others to follow in your footsteps. That gives me hope for our future.
