While most of us have grown up being taught that the letter “I” has no place in the word “team,” teams are wholly made up of individual advantages that contribute to the collective power of the group. In Individual Influence, authors Brian and Mary Smith go far beyond this axiom, making a persuasive case that even a company or team of individual players is still an “Individual” at its core—expressing the collective influence of all those who play a role in it. Thus, there is not just one “I” in team, but many.

Masters of language can turn unassuming words into phrases that are beautiful, effective, and memorable. What are the secrets of this alchemy? Part of the answer lies in rhetorical figures: practical ways of applying great aesthetic principles to a simple sentence or paragraph. Farnsworth’s Classical English Rhetoric recovers this knowledge for our times. It amounts to a tutorial on eloquence conducted by Churchill and Lincoln, Dickens and Melville, Burke and Paine, and more than a hundred others.

His message is clear: We are not at the mercy of the subconscious or helpless before forces we cannot understand. Seth challenges our assumptions about the nature of reality and stresses the individual’s capacity for conscious actions.

In the tradition of Octavia Butler, here is radical self-help, society-help, and planet-help to shape the futures we want. Change is constant. The world, our bodies, and our minds are in a constant state of flux. They are a stream of ever-mutating, emergent patterns. Rather than steel ourselves against such change, Emergent Strategy teaches us to map and assess the swirling structures and to read them as they happen, all the better to shape that which ultimately shapes us, personally and politically.

While many Indigenous groups in the Americas lived through similar histories, Apaches were especially affected owing to their mobility, resistance, and proximity to multiple imperial powers. The Apache Diaspora brings to life the stories of displaced Apaches and the kin from whom they were separated.

Story
In the tradition of Octavia Butler, here is radical self-help, society-help, and planet-help to shape the futures we want. Change is constant. The world, our bodies, and our minds are in a constant state of flux. They are a stream of ever-mutating, emergent patterns. Rather than steel ourselves against such change, Emergent Strategy teaches us to map and assess the swirling structures and to read them as they happen, all the better to shape that which ultimately shapes us, personally and politically.

While many Indigenous groups in the Americas lived through similar histories, Apaches were especially affected owing to their mobility, resistance, and proximity to multiple imperial powers. The Apache Diaspora brings to life the stories of displaced Apaches and the kin from whom they were separated.

The Happy Pig
I dislike the fact that the happy pig is a label they use for a part. There could've been any other label used that would come off as less offensive. Otherwise I love the book and I apply it everyday to my life.

Excellent Guide to IFS for Self-Guided Work
I’ve read several books on IFS, and wondered if I would learn anything new from this title—and I was delighted to come away with many new insights and tools to use in my self-practice. This is a very thoughtful and helpful guide to the practical application of IFS.

I love this book!!!
A very concise and comprehensive look at parts work. The content is Simply profound and profoundly simple. The author refers to pdf files that accompany the audiobook but this content was not made available upon purchase. That was the only disappointing factor for me. I had to buy a physical copy to be able to see the documents referenced in the audiobook. Not exactly fair.

“ Parts Work? “ It WORKS !
Someone loaned me this book, so when I listened to it on AUDIBLE I followed along in the book. I’ve never done that before but it was fun because I could see AND hear ! This is a GREAT LISTEN ! What I Love about t Audibles is that I can pause and DO the exercises in Self Help books such as this.
Parts Work teaches a method that helps us understand the various aspects of our personality. Our experiences as we grow up NEVER comes without SOME kind of Damage. This book helps us understand the “ Good Bad and the Ugly,” of the STRENGTHS and WEAKNESSES that can lay deep within the different facets of our personality. One can learn how to identify those parts that keep us going in circles and keep Damaging our attempts at having peace within.
It also teaches us how to get those damaged areas in our personality, out of the basement and upstairs into the living room for a GOOD TALK! Then we can learn how to be the ONE in Control of that little part of our personality that is challenging us at the time. Only THEN WE CAN CHANGE that weakness into a Strength and use it to our ADVANTAGE INSTEAD of to our Detriment !
This is a FANTASTIC SELF HELP book that will in being a BALANCED Human Being!

Did not care for it
Although this was helpful in understanding a few things I did not care for some of the language in it such as referring to one of the parts as a pig when it came to food. People with eating disorders listening to this would, in my opinion, trigger people. Also there was not clear cut information in Parts work as I thought there would have been.
if I could have returned this book I would have.
