About this listen
All the twists, suspense, danger, crime, romance, and sizzle that kept readers of Exceeding Expectations listening long into the night are back in Paradise Misplaced, along with Charlie, Jack, and Naomi - three unforgettable characters.
In Manhattan, being recently dumped by her soul mate becomes the least of Charlotte (Charlie) Morgan's problems after she is viciously pushed off a subway platform in front of an oncoming train. Her modeling career seems over, and she may not walk again. Throughout her lengthy hospital stay, the police have no success finding her assailant or determining a motive.
A handsome detective recovering from similar injuries is assigned to be her physical therapy partner. Concerned that her attacker will try again, he urges her to draw up a list of anyone she might have angered or rejected. Eliminating those who don't fit a compiled description of her attacker leaves just one suspect: a millionaire power broker with a famous art collection.
In his quest for his next wealthy wife, lovable lothario/con man Jack is in Buenos Aires romancing women he meets at a fashionable hotel. To finance this precarious existence, Jack exploits foreign tourists and local land barons. Whether he succeeds, falls short, or fails miserably at his quest depends on how entertaining he can be.
Understandably bitter, Naomi is in Israel working on an archaeological dig while seeking temporary relief from her demons with one-night stands and meaningless affairs. Unwilling to be yet another in a series of her lovers, a rough-hewn widowed farmer relentlessly pursues her.
On three continents, with thousands of miles separating them, will Charlie, Jack, and Naomi meet? Will their individual stories end in triumph or disaster?

When beautiful, reckless Southern belle Zelda Sayre meets F. Scott Fitzgerald at a country club dance in 1918, she is seventeen years old and he is a young army lieutenant stationed in Alabama. Before long, the "ungettable" Zelda has fallen for him despite his unsuitability: Scott isn't wealthy or prominent or even a Southerner, and keeps insisting, absurdly, that his writing will bring him both fortune and fame. Her father is deeply unimpressed.

Story
A disastrous office affair has left Channing Hughes unemployed and (very bloody) cynical. What better time to leave Boston for her native England, where her late grandfather has named her sole heir of the Hughes fortune, along with the centuries-old manor house that’s been in the family for generations. Only one problem with that plan - there is no Hughes fortune. If anyone deserves to be cynical about life, it’s Dr. Lark Latimer. She overcame a dysfunctional upbringing in East Boston only to lose both her college sweetheart and a promising medical career when her Ma fell critically ill.

A fantastic story / journey story of one family
This is a fantastic journey of several parts of one family finding each other and their own path in the world ,after losing each other following WW II. Each segment brought them closer and closer. Lisa April Smith has done a phenomenal job of crescendo-ing us into the lives of each of the characters. And the narrator was wonderful. Thank you for writing and sharing this story. I will probably listen to it again.

Masterful and moving
I so rarely am moved to write reviews and am a compulsive audible-phile. This story… performance and piece as both a sequel and stand-alone story is magnificent. The characters are deep…the integration of their stories is intricate…the sensitivity to history and mystery interwoven with art, suspense and erotic intrigue! Wow. I’m going to start the next book this very minute!

Not as great as Book 1
I’m not sure what I was expecting out of book 2, maybe I wanted Nicole & Alan aka Jack to be more likable. It was as if their characters became despicable and i stopped caring about them? Anyway book 2 tied up all the loose ends, it just wasn’t the ending I desired. The 1st book was 5 stars off the charts 10 but this book didn’t measure up to the 1st however still enjoyable enough to go 3 stars!

Interesting premise, but bad execution.
Although I liked the premise of the story, the mother’s character was disgusting! I did not continue reading after she picked up a random gross man to fornicate with in the dirt on the side of the road! After the author had said she had been sexually assaulted for years!!! Seriously!!! I didn’t even complete the scene as I do not want to hear that kind of filth! Will not be listening to anything else from this author. And what is weird is I have my settings to weed out lewd books…. Guess it only blocks XXX rated…. Wish they rated books like they rate movies, it would make it so much easier!
Narrator was a good reader, but not a great narrator. Just read the book.
