About this listen
Hope and practical help for Lyme disease sufferers everywhere.
More than 300,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with Lyme disease every year, and many, many more are suffering from Lyme without knowing it. Katina Makris was one of those undiagnosed individuals who nearly died from the disease. At the peak of her career, classical homeopath and health-care columnist Katina Makris was stricken with a mysterious "flu". Only after five years of torment - two completely bedridden - and devastating blows to her professional and family life was Katina's illness finally diagnosed as Lyme disease. Out of the Woods not only shares the brutality of Lyme disease through the telling of Katina's story, but it also describes her incredible journey back to full recovery, giving thousands of Lyme sufferers hope for their uncertain and frightening futures.
Katina's memoir is a gripping and inspiring story of healing through faith and perseverance, but Out of the Woods extends beyond Katina's personal story. Putting her homeopathic training to work, part two of the book details the nuts and bolts of Lyme disease, offering listeners up-to-date information on Eastern and Western treatments. Listeners will learn about the importance of antibiotics as well as acupuncture, homeopathic remedies, energy restoration, and a path to emotional healing - affirming that complete healing from any disease encompasses body, mind, and spirit.

Story
Are you sick, but can't find any answers why? Do you have a seemingly unconnected collection of symptoms that leave doctors guessing? Or have you been diagnosed, but found that none of the treatments seems to make a difference? You may have Lyme disease and not even know it. Known as "the great imitator", Lyme disease and its associated co-infections can mimic the symptoms of and often be misdiagnosed as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, and even depression.

You may not know that you have Lyme. It can mimic every disease process, including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, autoimmune conditions like MS, psychiatric conditions like depression and anxiety, and cause significant memory and concentration problems, mimicking early dementia. It is called the "Great Imitator," and inaccurate testing - combined with a fierce, ongoing debate that questions chronic infection - makes it difficult for sufferers to find effective care.

Story
Millions of people are suffering from chronic illnesses that, unbeknownst to them, are the result of exposure to environmental toxins and infectious agents such as mold and Borrelia, which causes Lyme disease. Millions. Because the symptoms of these illnesses are so varied and unusual, many of these individuals have sought medical care only to be dismissed, as if what they are experiencing is “in their head”. Many (if not most) have tried to tough it out and continue to function without hope of improvement. Unfortunately, their illnesses are very real.

What it’s like to have Lyme Disease (late diagnosis)
A well written story of one woman’s journey with Lyme Disease. So thankful I was able to read it, while on my own journey with Lyme. I
looked forward to making time to listen to her story, as well as a purchase a used copy to make highlights!
There is so much hope and healing in this book for anyone questioning their symptoms or a loved ones, regarding, Lyme Disease and dealing with medical providers.

her voice and tenor is horrifying.
struggled to finish. don't get started. this book has little to do with the authors lyme, and much to do with her practicing vocabulary words and extending a sentence far beyond what would be considered normal.
