About this listen

We know well some beliefs that are central to our Catholic life and ministry: life in Christ; the Trinity; belief and trust in a personal God and Savior; the prominent place of prayer; faith, hope and love; and, lastly, concern for the neighbor and for ourselves. We see the qualities for today’s La Salette reconcilers as building upon or deepening those Catholic qualities we learned early in life. We speak of these as special because we can notice how Our Lady highlighted, expressed or modeled them during her discourse at La Salette. Furthermore, Our Lady never intended to be comprehensive in her message: she never mentioned the Incarnation, the Resurrection, Pentecost or the Trinity for example, which are the pillars of our faith. She gave a specific message on specific topics for specific reasons. The Beautiful Lady's discourse included qualities not meant only for those already connected to La Salette because she told the two children to "make this known to all my people." Indeed, her words are a summons, a mandate for the entire world. Her message is rooted in St. Paul’s own call to be reconcilers (2 Corinthians 5:17-20;6:1). Fr. Normand Theroux, M.S.
