I ended up listening to this book while doing a cross country drive during the pandemic. I was excited to know that Joshua Jackson was reading a book because I've always found his voice soothing but it turns out he's also an excellent storyteller, now one of my absolute favorites. the story itself was so different and exciting and strange I just loved it. there was an edge to it, quite literally I would have seen myself staying up all night to read this if I had the book in hand. I give everything 5 out of 5 even though this isn't even in my normal genre of reading.

Simply Perfect

This is the type of book that could definitely become a blockbuster thriller/horror…however, while the story is intriguing and unique the author was trying way too hard to attempt flowery prose type writing which often had me rolling my eyes.

A good enough read, kept my interest but story dragged on, at times repetitive, and overall meh…

Hollywood could definitely make a blockbuster

Overall. My kind of suspenseful thriller. Not disappointed and happily found a new author I hadn't read up until now. Highly recommend

the story matters, but I believe we all agree that if it it narrated by the wrong voice, it will not perform well in these reviews. that's why this one gets 5 stars from me. great story! and I'm not one that usually likes a crime drama, I don't even own a TV. but in this one, the characters are personable and I was hooked from the first few minutes of Joshua's voice. if this one hits your fancy, give the updated Truman Capote classic Breakfast at Tiffany's narrated by Michael C Hall a go. these guys with voices like butter need more attention!

the voice of a great story matters!

I'm going to be honest, I added this book to my Library because Joshua Jackson was narrating the story. I like his voice and I like him and have since he was the underdog hockey player in the '90s.

The story went on a bit long, but not too long. I get some of chapters but getting there could have been a little tighter.

For the story itself, it's really good. It kept my attention. It's balanced and gives enough of the creep in with the mystery. I will say I figured out who they were putting as the killer a couple chapters before part 6. I was also kicking myself that I didn't figure it out earlier.

It's good.

Adventure mixed with the supernatural in a detective mystery, this story has it all. The characters were vivid and I was wrapped up in the small town central to the story. I would've liked the ending to be a little more detailed, but overall it ended where it should have. Joshua Jackson did a great job narrating.

Excellent story

The story keeps the reader interested and invested in the protagonist and antagonist but ends abruptly and vaguely. Perhaps for a next installment....? (Or I missed something, entirely possible)

Compelling story with anticlimactic ending.
