About this listen
This is a charming, hankie-waving Christmas classic for girls who love horses, ages 8 and up.
Teased by the local kids for being a city girl and an amputee, Hannah Storey feels alone and isolated, just like the old mustang she sees on the way to and from school every day. Hannah vows to save the pony the local kids have cruelly nicknamed Frostbite from freezing to death or being sent to slaughter, but events spiral out of control.
Will Hannah be able to save the pony? Will the townsfolk of River Bend ever accept her? Maybe Hannah Storey is just what the town needs to remember what love, friendship, and Christmas are really about.

This fourth wall-breaking, three-book collection showcases Jackson's adventures through fantasy realms, comic book universes, and classic space opera settings. Each fast-paced novel allows Jackson to flex his powers, skills, and wits as he exploits the rules, points out the respective genre's flaws, and undermines godly authority to win the day. All the while laughing at the expense of our beloved tropes. Because that is what villains should do, shouldn’t they?

This is the thrilling story of how a hurricane destroyed the wild herds of Assateague, and how strength and love helped rebuild them. Misty of Chincoteague has been delighting millions since its publication in 1947. Like the favorite classic, this sequel features siblings Paul and Maureen Beebe's special relationship with their ponies, and is filled with fascinating horse lore and amusing regional color.

Sweet little story
I enjoyed this sweet little story about a young girl suffering from lose of her grandmother and a leg in an accident. Moving and finding that the school bully is nothing short of mean. But a pony suffering causes her to dig deeper within herself and her own hurts to help. Sweet story full of hope and perseverance. Received this book at no charge in exchange for an honest review.

Good family listen
I was in the mood for something to listen to with the kiddos and this just hit the spot.
It was a sweet story about a young handicapped girl, in a new town, and her efforts to save a starving horse. There was some mean girls aspects (and I still am not sure why the mean girl did what she did) but everything worked out in the end.
I loved the narrator. This is my first book by Leslie Howard but will not be my last.

A pony story to win your heart
One Frosty Christmas is a sweet story certain to become a favorite with horse loving kids. The main character, a lonely teenage amputee, wins the listener's heart almost as fast as the abused and neglected pony she seeks to rescue. The narrator is terrific!

More than a kids book!
One Frosty Christmas by Laura Hesse is so much more than I expected. The story is well written and covers many issues. I loved how the main character had determination and perseverance. This book features a young girl who feels bullied by some classmates, then finds more friends than she anticipated. I loved her feisty side. There is hope and humor in this book too. I enjoyed how the small town had a wonderful community. The abuse described that Frosty endured was so sad, but realistic. The narration by Leslie Howard was very well done. She added the right emotions to the book. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

FOR BOYS TOO!!
This is the second book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I’m enjoying the books about these kids. There is a strong secondary character that is a boy and all the people in the book have horses and ride. The book has a lot of good lessons for all kids- tolerance, cooperation, friendship, truth and compassion.
THE BOOK IS NOT JUST FOR GIRLS- I’M FRUSTRATED TO SEE THE SUMMARY WITH THAT LABELING. JUST BECAUSE THE MAIN CHARACTER IS A GIRL AND THERE ARE HORSES DOES NOT MEAN BOYS CAN’T OR WON’T ENJOY THIS STORY!! It would be a shame if anyone passed this over and did not give this book to their son to read.
This is the second book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Leslie Howard ) and I enjoyed the way she narrated this book. She does a great job with the voices of the kids and the adults, males and females.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

Sweet Story Of Friends Saving Friends
One Frosty Christmas was just what I was looking for so close to the holidays. Hannah is a brave young girl, and I liked how she was in no way thwarted by the fact that she's an amputee, and even if other kids call her "Pegleg", she never comes across as one to feel sorry for herself. She is quite capable.
Through her concern and later care for the unhappy horse, Frostbite, she finds that she's no longer alone, no longer an outcast but has comrades who will help her save him.
There is quite a bit of action at the end, and several sweet and empowering scenes throughout, and there's even some Native wisdom that comes from Hannah's friend Joe, who speaks to and seeks help from The Grandfathers.
Leslie Howard does a capable job with the narration, carrying many and varied characters, carrying action, carrying joy, and even absolute distress with aplomb. She sounds like a young girl but never turns One Frosty Christmas into a little kid's book. It definitely is for a younger audience, but as an adult, you won't be bored at all if you listen to it when your children do.
And nothing brings people together like doing the right and courageous thing. It's a really, really happy ending!

A Starving Horse and a Girl Determined to Save Him
Will love for a beaten animal be enough to save a life? Both realistic and enchanting. By the time I finished the story I was disappointed that it was over. It's definitely one of those books I didn't want to end.
I requested and received a copy of the audiobook free for review purposes. The narration is of excellent quality; so much so that I became totally immersed in the story.
