About this listen

On September 28, 2000, former Indiana state trooper David Camm made a frantic call to his former colleagues in the state troopers office: He had just walked into his garage and found lying on the floor the bodies of his 35-year-old wife Kim and their two children Brad and Jill, ages seven and five. Three days later, things got worse when police arrested David Camm for the triple murder. Soon new stories started emerging about mistresses and violent bursts of temper. And as the ugly truth about the Camms' marriage got uglier and the evidence against David started piling up, two families - and the community at large - took positions at opposite sides of a yawning and bitter divide. Was David Camm a dedicated, conscientious public servant - the victim of unspeakable tragedy who was being railroaded by an unfair system? Or was he a cold-hearted murderer who earned his three murder convictions and every one of the 195 years behind bars to which he was sentenced?

It Was A Decent True Crime Read

..not the best, not the worst. Will have to get more info on the outcome as the book only contains information up to 2005.

WHAT A STORY!

it is hard for me to believe David Camm is innocent, all things considered. Book is well written and very well read.

Hard to like the story due to poor narration.

Would you try another book from John Glatt and/or Gildart Jackson?

Definitely not Gildart Jackson. Not sure about John Glatt.

What didn’t you like about Gildart Jackson’s performance?

Terrible! I have had trouble enjoying performances in the past, but never one as bad as this. It was difficult to decide if the book was written well as the narration was so bad.

Was One Deadly Night worth the listening time?

I almost turned it off early on due to the narration, but was the only book I had downloaded for my travel time. Once a couple of hours into it, I thought it would get better. The storyline kept me going, but the narration never got better.

A most Unusual story.

this is one of the murder story that leaves one to wander clear to the end. We may never know the truth. It kept me intrigued for the entire book. Very good true crime, audible book. JS

The narrator made it a chore to finish.

Not the best choice for narration. His American accent was difficult to listen to.

Good story in need of a better narration

When the English narrator attempts to use an American accent to do various voices, it sounds like the weird accents of early movies - everyone sounds like Katherine Hepburn instead of someone living in Kentucky. It was distracting and often comical in a story with a very serious subject.

Comprehensive Look at a Tough Case

Glatt does a thorough job of covering this difficult case. After listening to this book and watching documentaries about it, I’ve gone back and forth on whether Camm is innocent or guilty. In the beginning, I was sure he was guilty because he was such a lying, serial adulterer. But when I found out Charles Boney’s DNA was on all the victims, I changed my mind. What I still don’t get is that Boney had a history of attacking women, but why did he kill the children?

Very Good Listen

It was a good, in depth telling of this unbelievable story. I agree with another reviewer that I’ll need to do some follow up research since it ends in 05.
