About this listen
Twelve-year-old Tommy Bolton has only ever experienced the simple life: hang out with friends, crush on a pretty girl and enjoy summer vacation. Maybe finish the puzzle on the dining table and definitely avoid bossy Mrs. Gleeson at all costs.
But then he wakes up one morning and his mom's whereabouts are unknown. His father is acting...different. And there's a woman in the basement. She's scared, alone, and asking Tommy to save her. But saving her would cost Tommy his entire simple life. And he's not sure she's worth it.
A jarring suspense about a boy battling self-control, abandonment, and the struggle between nature vs. nurture.
This book contains explicit and sensitive content, including sexual abuse and child endangerment.

Haunted by a past trauma, Cathy yearns for sanctuary away from city life. She finds it with her boyfriend Alfie, at Blacksheep Farm, a haven in the Peaks of Derbyshire. When a collection of hidden portraits is found by Alfie, Cathy is drawn to their mysterious beauty and embarks on a quest to return them to their owner. But her journey threatens to unearth long-buried secrets and tear her new life apart.

Story
Accidents happen, no matter how careful or well-intentioned you are. Psychiatrist Eve Thayer frequently reassures her patients of that fact. There are even times when accidents have good consequences—like when Eve met her now-husband, Nathan, at his collision shop after another car ran her off the road. After a whirlwind courtship, Nathan and Eve have settled into domestic life. They have a lovely home on a quiet street, a beautiful baby girl, and even the perfect babysitter to care for her. And yet, something isn’t quite right.

What did I just read
This story started off slow and then it sucker punched me. Pleasantville mixed with law and order SVU and I don’t even know what else. This story was disturbing and intriguing. Seeing darkness within a suburban neighborhood and the lives that are impacted. There was a stream of consciousness that made me ache for the little boy but also realizing what was going on I get chills thinking about what HE was doing. This was a twisted yet very good read.
