About this listen

I wanted him from the moment I laid eyes on him and from that point on, the question wasn't if I'd have him but when...

Thirty-five-year-old Matias de la Vega is good at one thing and one thing only. Though he doesn't officially carry the title of killer when it comes to his role in an underground vigilante group, he's got no problem getting his hands dirty if it means getting justice for those who can't get it on their own.

Such is the case when single dad Sam Wittier is confronted by a stalker bent on murder. While neutralizing the threat is all in a day's work for Matias, what comes after is anything but. Although Matias isn't particularly surprised by his attraction to the older Sam, his inability to walk away from the still-grieving widower is a complication.

An unexpected and dangerous complication...

Nothing about the mysterious Matias makes sense to me. The emotionally distant soldier says what he means and takes what he wants. And for whatever reason, what he wants is me. That should have me running for the hills. It should, but it doesn't...

For 50-something Sam Wittier, life is as good as it's been since he lost the man of his dreams more than two decades earlier. After handing the reins of his successful business over to his older son, Sam is happy to settle into the quiet, simple life of being a full-time single dad to his newly adopted little boy.

Unfortunately, life didn't get the message. After nearly losing everything to a deranged stalker, Sam finds himself face to face with a man who is anything but quiet and simple. There's no reason he should want the unpredictable, take-no-prisoners Matias in his life or his bed, but just like life, his body isn't getting the message.

One night with Sam is all I need to get him out of my head for good. One night will be enough to end my obsession with him. It has to be...

While Sam and Matias share a white-hot chemistry that neither has ever known before, that's about all they have in common. But as one passionate encounter leads to another and the line between obsession and need begins to blur, will Matias and Sam find that maybe they aren't so different after all? And what will that mean for the ghosts of the past that have haunted each man for so long?

The ghosts that are willing to be buried as well as the ones that aren't...

Although not required, it is highly recommend that you listen to Protecting Elliot: A Protectors Novella prior to listening to Obsessed. The audiobooks feature separate couples but overlap when it comes to timeline/plot.

I love a good obsession and these two did not disappoint. Such a great story of healing and opening to love after such a devastation.

I don’t know how she does it, but Sloane Kennedy has created a fantastic new installment of this wonderful series. Matias -anti-social, backwards, harboring deep secrets, almost rude and uncaring. Sam- father, holding deep to the love he lost 25 years ago, reeling over the horror of a man putting a gun to his 9 year old wheelchair bound son’s head. This story has a rich plot that carries the characters through huge life changes. It is interesting, intense, and unique enough from the rest of the series to warrant 5 stars.

Fantastic!

The series is ongoing and one of my favorites! This is the last book at the moment and it was awesome! Both author and narrator are excellent at their jobs!

4 Blue Roses

4 Blue Flames

Narrator Michael Dean gave his usual stupefying good performance. His deliveries although perfect can sometimes be overwhelming. It is difficult for me to listen to two of his audiobooks in a row, due to the high angst and fast cadence. It starts to feel like I am listening to a racehorse commentator. But, I find listening to him in between 10-15 audiobooks appreciatively refreshing.

This audiobook was hot, hot, hot! Although, a little predictable, I didn’t mind it because I am an age-gap slut through and through. Silver foxes are my kryptonite. Sam is a real and honest good guy.

Matias is an almost broken with a horrible past, he is mysterious and a brooding vigilante. Obsessing and being overprotective towards Sam.

Man, my little antennas were up and sensing smoldering sex scenes on the horizon from chapter one. These two are attracted to each other and they don’t take the usual route of courting. They fight the attraction tooth and nail, but they yearn for each other like a sinner in hell yearns for water. The sex is raw and very passionate. If you don’t like audiobooks with sex, you will cringe more than a few times.

The tension brought on by old baggage showing up was disturbingly good. The psychological manipulation and tension had me screaming at the idiotic characters for being so bloody fucking stupid!
The author wrote the suspense and action very well. I liked the appearance of characters from previous books.

I definitely recommend this audiobook.

Happy Listening

Matias and Sam really have to work for their HEA. They deal with anger, past traumas, current angst, and then grow in a crazy, children and you get a lot going on. It is worth traveling with these two.

Michael Dean is excellent with these characters. His voice is clean, crisp, clear and sexy AF.

I love this story

I thought it would be hard for a new Sloane book to make its way to the top of my favorites list but I’m obsessed with Obsessed.

Matias and Sams story is my new favorite of Sloanes, hands down. I just devoured every word of this audio. And Michael Dean nails the characters again. Perfect from beginning to end!

A new favorite

OMG Sloane has out done herself once again!! I loved every second of it. I laughed and got over heated during the sex scenes which she does so well. Michael Dean once again did an awesome job!!

Sam and Matias!!!

Sloane never disappoints! Her stories are always equally sweet and steamy. When you add Michael's voice with her writing it is sheer perfection.

So Good

I binge-read the Protectors series (or, the books that were out at the time) a few years ago. So when I saw this audiobook available on Audible, I snatched it up with glee. I'm working on a project right now that requires my hands to be busy but my brain is idle. Having audiobooks available has been a lifesaver. This one, in particular, was a pleasant distraction.

However, I'll admit, the narrator wore on my nerves. His presentation of the story just wasn't for me. I found myself cringing more than swooning, and eventually wound up DNFing because I couldn't get into the story because of the narrator. But because I wanted to know what happened, I wound up finishing it in audiobook instead. Thankfully, it was available on KU, so I could do so easily.

The story was your typical Sloane Kennedy. Filled with angst and heartache and lots and lots of instalove. Definitely not for everyone, but I always enjoy her stories for what they are. There could be some more meat there, but if that's what you're looking for, then this series probably isn't for you. If you go into it knowing what to expect, I'm positive you'll enjoy it! <3

Predictable but enjoyable Sloane Kennedy :)
